Are you a **first-time homebuyer** or looking to **build your own home**?
The **NHFC First Home Finance Subsidy** can help qualifying households bridge the affordability gap towards purchasing or building their first home.
⚠️ **Please note:** This is **not a free house or a cash handout**. It is a housing subsidy designed to assist qualifying applicants with the cost of homeownership — helping you get closer to building or owning your dream home.
# # # ✅ WHO MAY QUALIFY?
You may qualify if you:
✔️ Are **18 years or older**;
✔️ Are a **South African citizen or qualifying permanent resident**;
✔️ Are a **first-time homebuyer** and have never owned a home;
✔️ Have **never previously benefited from a government housing subsidy**;
✔️ Have a **household income between R3,501 and R22,000 per month**; and
✔️ Meet the applicable NHFC First Home Finance requirements.

Applicants should prepare the following, where applicable:
✔️ Certified copy of ID
✔️ Latest payslips / proof of income
✔️ Bank statements
✔️ Proof of residence
✔️ Proof of marital status, where applicable
✔️ Spouse/partner's supporting documents, where applicable
✔️ Home-loan approval or Approval in Principle, where applicable
✔️ Offer to Purchase, where applicable
✔️ Proof of ownership of a serviced stand, if building
✔️ Approved building plans, where applicable
✔️ Any additional documents requested during the application process
