South Africa’s construction industry has travelled a difficult road over the past decade. A combination of weak economic growth, delayed public infrastructure spending, rising material costs, and skills shortages has created a difficult landscape to navigate. Yet the picture in 2025 is beginning to look different. While challenges persist, there are clear signs that the sector is gradually regaining momentum and redefining its operations. It feels like an exciting time as we shift into a time of growth. I don’t want to jinx it, but I am hopeful for progress.
