Guys and girls,
Let's chat Solar.
(this is not intended to discredit anyone)
Just some information to keep in mind.
1. Solar or any other alternative energy supply system might appear expensive, but in the long term it pays for it self.
2. Your neighbor's system is not necessarily your system, meaning your energy requirements differ from others, so make sure that what you invest in will serve your needs.
3. Cheap is dangerous, not only in failing, but can cause damage to your property and possibly person as well.
4. Make sure that what you install is able to br scaled up when you require it in future.
5. There are different systems, basically identfied as "Off the Grid", which means you are completely self reliant. "Hybrid" which is you depending some percentage on the grid and "Backup" which shall support ypu when the grid goes down, for example the periods of loadshedding (to the critics, this is layman terms). Decide what serves your needs, the cost can be very different.
6. Remember that your system needs to be installed by an experienced individual and you will require a CoC afterwards from an authorized individual cleared and in good standing to issur such.
7. Establish what your warranty is on all items supplied and how and where you can redeem it when things go wrong, as well as terms and conditions attached.
8. Ensure to always maintain your system according to specifications, especially solar panels. A dirty solar panel or damaged one will affect your whole set up and can cause a failure in generating energy.
