After working under Group 5 Power on an Eskom second generation power facility from 2017 to 2019 W3O really got to understand what it means to live and breathe H&S onsite. We needed to up our game in this area so we did two things, first we developed a logo that would go on every branded item be it plant, clothing or signage - to remind us of the importance of keeping all our people onsite safe. The second was to bring on a H&S Manager who would be able to navigate the pressures of site, keep the consultants happy and build up a culture of H&S within the business. This weekend Thando Mbhele achieved what he had said he would do for us in the initial interview with him if he joined W3O, he said he would get us a Master Builders South Africa shield. Today I was proud to be able to stand next to him and receive the certificate while the shield remains his for the year. His success is our success, and a reminder to leaders out there that your job is to provide the platform for your people to succeed - they will do the rest.
