Wadh-ha Wahid Nassor is a pioneering founder blending marine science with digital intelligence, dedicated to the economic empowerment and safety of coastal fishing communities.

She is the founder of the Smart Ocean Monitoring System, which uses satellite sensors and AI to help fishermen in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam find where the fish actually are. Fishermen can post their catch directly through the app so customers can place orders, which means less fish goes to waste and more money stays in the pockets of the people who caught it. And because not everyone owns a smartphone, she is now developing an SMS alert system so even fishermen with basic phones get ocean safety updates and fishing zone information.

Through the African Innovation Fellowship and WomHub, Wadh-ha got the mentorship, training, and exposure to take this from idea to deployment. She refined her business model, built her confidence as a young female tech founder, and is now making real impact across Tanzania's coastal communities.

This Africa Month, we are proud to highlight Wadh-ha because she is one of the women building for the continent.

Working from home is fine until you realise you have not had a single surprising conversation in six months.

At WomHub, that is basically all that happens. Someone walks past your desk, asks what you are building, and next thing you know they are introducing you to a funder or a co-founder or a person who just gets it.

We have the practical stuff too. Fast wifi, meeting rooms, a lactation lounge, a wellness area, even a space for your kids to explore STEM. But the real reason to come work from Cape Town, Johannesburg, or East London is the accidental magic.

Show up, be curious and see what happens.

For 20 years, WomHub and WomEng have been building the women who build Africa. That is our ecosystem approach. That is .

We have worked across 22 African countries, from Ghana to Kenya to Eswatini to Uganda, supporting over 1,200 female founders solving the continent's biggest problems in science, technology, engineering, mining, and manufacturing.

Through programmes like our Green Accelerator Programme, Training for Green with IYBA-SEED, GirlEng with De Beers, and our partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering, we are making sure women in STEM have the capital, networks, and opportunities they need to lead.

The results? Over $10 million in capital raised post programme with more than 1,700 jobs created. Three innovation hubs in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and East London where founders build every single day.

We build, we fund and we launch the women building Africa. That is the work we have been doing to a continent.

Happy Africa Day.

Congratulations to Mpho Majeng for being featured on Food For Mzansi.

Mpho is the founder of Somelele Trading, trading as Hops Drinks, and she is a part of our Green Accelerator Programme (GAP) Cohort 1, delivered in partnership with IYBA-SEED.

Her business produces Hops Ice Tea, a non-alcoholic immune booster packed with vitamins A, B, and C. Got the flu? This is what you reach for. She took her grandmothers traditional recipe and turned it into a modern wellness product now stocked in selected Spar stores across the Eastern Cape.

Congratulations again, Mpho. We are proud to have you in our ecosystem.

Cathybert Ainembabazi and her team at PearlOxy Uganda Limited are by making sure oxygen therapy does not stop when the power goes out. Their device, MPOS, solves a problem that costs lives in places where electricity is unreliable.

Since joining the Africa Innovation Fellowship (AIF) in partnership with The Royal Academy of Engineering, here is what has happened:

Cathybert was named Spidd Africa's 2026 Tech She-Roe. PearlOxy was selected as one of 10 laureates by the Grand Jury of Women Entrepreneurs 4 Good. They became finalists in the FemSTEM Africa 2026 Pitch Competition. Her co-founder Agasha Faith earned a $3200 scholarship to the Grant Writing and Funding Program. They signed a strategic partnership with Lwera Electronics to build their pilot unit. They will host an MBA intern from Switzerland this June, and PearlOxy became the first Ugandan startup ever accepted into the SimCubator Rwanda Program.

This is what happens when founders get the right fellowship, the right network, and the right doors opened. At WomHub, we make sure founders like Cathybert are not doing it alone when she wins, the entire ecosystem wins.

A massive congratulations to you and your team Cathybert! We can't wait to see what more you do.

The issue is that women-led green tech startups in Africa raised less than 1% of venture funding in 2025 and this is not because the ideas aren't there but because the capital isn't. This is the gap that we are closing with De Beers.

Together, have been and building across the entire pipeline in three countries: South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. We have supported 767 university and TVET students through work readiness and cognitive skills programmes. These are the women building the next generation of climate solutions.

And through the Trailblazer Accelerator, we have backed 16 women-owned ventures with mentorship, market access, and the kind of networks that transform startups. These founders are closing deals, hiring teams, and proving that the 1% stat is a system failure, not a talent failure.

Send us a DM to learn more on how to get involved.

Mphatso from Malawi is one of the women we are backing through the Africa Innovation Fellowship, and her story is exactly what looks like.

She runs Anathus Investments, a food business that went fully green. Solar and gas for processing, organic farming with compost, no chemical fertilisers or pesticides. She is producing jams, sauces, hibiscus wellness products, and nutritious foods from locally sourced crops, and she has created a circular economy model that actually works.

Through the fellowship, she moved her entire business from paper to digital, got mentorship that helped her sharpen her growth strategy, and is now creating jobs for women and young people in her community.

"We are grateful to WomHub for being part of our growth journey and for amplifying African women innovators who are building solutions for the continent." - Mphatso Magwaya

You never know who's going to walk into WomHub, which is exactly why you should stop working alone in your pajamas and come be where the unexpected happens.

One afternoon you could be stress-crying over funding, and the next thing you know a global funder is sitting across from you asking what you actually need to make your work take off.
We've had royalty stay an extra hour just to talk to the women in this room, and we've watched founders build incredible ventures after accessing catalytic funding for their businesses through our programmes.

That kind of accidental connection doesn't happen when you're by yourself, but it happens all the time when you're at a desk in Cape Town, Johannesburg, or East London and someone fascinating walks past to ask what you're building.

Come work from our Hub because the person who could change everything for you might walk through the door tomorrow and you don't want to miss them.
