Company Backround and Philosophy:
GreenLab Technologies Pty (Ltd) is an agricultural engineering company founded by Heiko Beckers (MD) and Ernst van Biljon (Director) in February 2014. Strategy and Vision:
We design, develop and invest in technologies that provide smart farming solutions for a sustainable future and it is of utmost importance to us that we provide our clients with highest quality
products and outstanding service. Forestry:
The company founders’ roots stem from Namibia, where they have grown up on agricultural farms. Namibia has been widely affected by overgrowth of invasive bush species. Encroachment bush significantly decreases the land’s livestock carrying capacity and robs landowners of precious ground water. GreenLab Forestry was established with the vision to harvest encroachment bush, utilize this abundant resource for firewood and charcoal production and at the same time help farmers by reversing the negative effects of overbushing. At the moment, GreenLab Forestry sells harvested wood and coal to distributors in bulk and as packaged product all around the globe. Wood is harvested on two locations that are owned by the founders, additionally wood is sourced from various farmers. To add more value, create jobs and open doors for international export, GreenLab is initiating the process to start packaging and marketing products via its own brand. Furthermore, in the long run, the company would like to use harvested encroachment bush for energy creation via the means of gasification. In line with our philosophy, we continuously strive to improve harvesting and production methods in order to make operations more eco-friendly. Currently products are primarily marketed in South Africa, Germany, Netherlands and the middle East with the aim of expanding this to a global scale.
