From SunSpace to Spaceteq

SunSpace applied to be placed under business rescue. The result of this process was that Sunspace ceased normal operations. Sunspace's intellectual property was procured by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The former employees of SunSpace were given the oppor

tunity for employment at Spaceteq, a new business unit in Denel Dynamics, a division of Denel SOC Ltd. The intellectual property acquired by the DST will be made available to Spaceteq. Spaceteq became operational on the first of July 2013. It will use the IP from DST, the ex-Sunspace people, and the heritage from work previously done by Houwteq, as a solid foundation on which to build an organisation that will develop satellite systems for the South African Government and also for International Clients.

Spaceteq takes top honors at IAC 2014. Congratulations to Lumka Msibi who has won the 1st prize in the IAF Poster Competition with her poster and Technical Paper titled “53rd South African National Antarctic Expedition (SANAE) and Denel Spaceteq Schools Outreach Program ”, in the Category of Space Education and Outreach Symposium at the 65th International Astronautics Conference in Toronto Canada. Within this category, there were 9 finalists that were selected out of 500 submissions. Her poster, which was accompanied by a Technical Paper, was designed out of the Technical Work she had done during the visit to Antarctica – upgrade of the South African Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (Super DARN) which is a South African Installation in the Antarctica used to monitor the dynamic Space Weather, used to as an early warning system for Satellites, when the Space Weather become adverse (Solar Activity increases to dangerous levels for Satellites). http://ow.ly/i/75acI http://ow.ly/i/75agr
