Position Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Locations: Kansanshi, Kalumbila, and Mufulira

JVChantete Earthworks Ltd is seeking skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics to join our maintenance team supporting mining operations across Zambia.

Summary Key Responsibilities
• Carry out inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy mobile equipment.
• Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on equipment.
• Execute both planned maintenance and breakdown repairs efficiently.
• Conduct component change-outs in line with OEM standards.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and to required standards.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
• Work closely with supervisors and team members to ensure equipment availability.

Key Competencies:
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of reliability, discipline, and accountability.
• Good understanding of safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work shifts and site-based schedules.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
• Craft Certificate, Advanced Craft Certificate, Trade Test Certificate (Grade I-III), Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Heavy Equipment Engineering, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Equipment or Diesel Mechanics.
• Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience working on heavy mining or earth-moving equipment.
• Strong experience working with equipment such as:
o Komatsu excavators, dozers, and dump trucks
o CAT 777 trucks (or similar equipment)
• Sound knowledge of planned maintenance systems and breakdown repairs.

JVChantete Earthworks Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Planner to support the planning and coordination of maintenance activities for heavy mobile equipment operations in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain weekly and monthly maintenance plans for heavy mobile equipment.
• Prepare and manage work orders, job cards, and service schedules.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely ex*****on of planned work.
• Monitor and manage maintenance backlog and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Plan and track component change-outs and equipment servicing.
• Generate and analyze maintenance reports and performance data.
• Liaise with stores, procurement, and site management to ensure availability of parts and resources.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintenance procedures.

Key Competencies
• Strong organizational and planning skills.:
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
• Safety-conscious and proactive in risk management.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Planning, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in maintenance planning within mining, construction, or heavy equipment environments.
• Experience using CMMS systems (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of planned maintenance processes and systems.
• Experience with Komatsu, CAT, Bell, or similar heavy equipment will be an added advantage.

We have commissioned the first of our fleet of Komatsu HD1500 150-ton Trucks.

Multi-Skilled Operator

Key Responsibilities:
To operate large and small machines safely and efficiently for digging, loading, trenching, and material handling activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and production targets.
• Operate multiple types of heavy equipment, such as
Excavators (e.g., PC1250, PC2000),
Rigid Dump Trucks (CAT 777, Komatsu 785),
Articulated Dump Trucks (ADT),
Dozers and Graders.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Execute tasks as assigned to meet production targets
• Report any faults, incidents, or hazards to supervisors promptly
• Maintain accurate operational records and logs
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors

Required Qualifications:
• Grade 12 certificate
• Valid operator licenses/certifications for multiple equipment types

• Strong knowledge of machine operation, safety standards, and maintenance practices.
• Strong awareness of mine safety and emergency procedures.
• Ability to work long shifts, including nights and weekends or in challenging environments.
• Knowledge of safe digging practices and equipment load limits.
• Valid Silicosis Certificate
