This is more than just a training milestone for us. It strengthens our capacity to operate responsibly, improve transparency, and align with evolving global standards in sustainable mining.

His Royal Highness Chief Chibwika waters a newly planted tree during the official launch of the tree planting exercise in Chibwika Chiefdom. The initiative is spearheaded by ZCCM-IH and implemented in partnership with Zambia Gold Company Limited (ZGCL) and the Chibwika Chiefdom Development Trust (CCDT).

Under this initiative, over 1,000 trees will be planted across nine selected schools within the chiefdom as part of ongoing environmental restoration efforts.

Speaking at the event, the Chief expressed gratitude to ZCCM-IH and ZGCL for their continued support towards environmental sustainability. He further urged the District Education Board to institutionalise tree planting in schools, proposing that each pupil plant and nurture a tree until it reaches maturity.

It was a productive and busy weekend for His Royal Highness Chief Chibwika, community representatives, the Chibwika Chiefdom Development Trust (CCDT), ZCCM IH Plc, and ZGCL. The stakeholders came together to discuss ways of strengthening stakeholder relations.

Our team has just returned from Chibwika Chiefdom in Mwinilunga District, where we joined the vibrant, soccer-loving youths to mark Zambia’s Independence in grand style!

This year's celebrations coincided with the Chibwika Chiefdom Annual Football Tournament, proudly sponsored by Zambia Gold Company Limited. Through this initiative, we continue to show our commitment to empowering communities and promoting youth development through sport.

While enjoying the exciting matches, we were also treated to some amazing Lunda music performances by One Jay Chimandombi, adding rhythm and colour to the celebrations.

After some thrilling games, the Southerners lifted the trophy, edging out their rivals in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

At ZGCL, we believe sport unites, inspires, and builds stronger communities. Here’s to more wins, on and off the pitch.

ZCCM-IH's newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kakenenwa Muyangwa undertook a strategic visit yesterday to the Zambia Gold Company Limited Mumbwa buying centre, currently under construction. As part of his familiarization tour, the CEO also engaged directly with artisanal and small-scale miners in the area to gain deeper insights into their operations and explore collaborative opportunities that can enhance sustainable and inclusive gold mining in Zambia. This initiative underscores ZCCM-IH’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships and strengthening value chains within the country’s mining sector.
