Last week, Eco-Africa had the privilege of participating in the Europe–Africa Co-Circular Innovation Accelerator Platform in Munich alongside global partners such as Spark Unternehmer TUM, Westerwelle Foundation, and the World Food Program Innovation Accelerator.
Our Key Take Aways:
👉Circular economy is not fundamentally a waste problem; it is a value architecture challenge.
While global discourse remains heavily anchored in recycling, the highest economic and environmental returns lie upstream:
• Extending product life cycles
• Scaling repair and refurbishment ecosystems
• Embedding circularity into design and business models
Collaborations between corporates such as Bosch signal a promising shift—from fragmented interventions to integrated circular systems.
🌍 The continent generates over 2.9 million tons of e-waste annually.
🇿🇲 In Zambia, this stands at over 90,000–120,000 tones per year.
Yet most of this is not formally captured or reused.

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱-𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗮’𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀🤝

Our engagement with CaDev_Catalyst Development and FAO offered powerful insights into how Lusaka’s markets can reduce, reuse, and recycle food waste more effectively. With over 60% of the waste Eco Africa receives daily being food waste, we reflected deeply on how much of this could be prevented, redirected to food‑insecure communities, or transformed into value.🌳

A key highlight was visiting the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) facility at Gracehaven Farms — a strong example of how organic waste can be reused to produce high‑protein feed and nutrient‑rich manure. This reinforces the potential of circular‑economy solutions in our markets.

We remain committed to strengthening food‑waste pathways that protect communities, support traders and farmers, and expand green‑job opportunities. Grateful to FAO and CaDev for convening this important engagement.♻️✅

We are excited to share that our Founder & CEO, Taonga Chanda, participated as a panelist at the Anzisha Workshop during the Africa Career Networks (ACN) Regional Leadership & Career Impact Summit – Zambia, held at Southern Sun Hotel, Lusaka on 18–19 February 2026.

As an Anzisha Alumni, Taonga contributed to a powerful conversation on “Transitions into Entrepreneurship”, sharing her journey of building Eco‑Africa Energies and the realities young founders face when stepping into entrepreneurship. She highlighted the importance of community support, mentorship, and youth‑focused programs such as Anzisha, African Leadership University (ALU), and Africa Career Networks (ACN) in shaping resilient, impact‑driven entrepreneurs.

This summit brought together young leaders, employers, educators, and policymakers to explore how Zambia can unlock stronger career pathways for its rapidly growing youth population. With one of the youngest demographics in the region, Zambia has a unique opportunity to empower young people to innovate, create jobs, and drive sustainable economic growth.

🌍CLEAN MARKETS, HEALTHY COMMUNITIES-A SAFER MARKET STARTS WITH SMART WASTE MANAGEMENT.
Eco‑Africa was honored to stand alongside the Zambia–United States Exchanges Alumni Association (ZUEA) – Lusaka Chapter for the launch of the Chilenje Market Waste Bay Hand‑Wash Facility and a powerful cholera‑prevention campaign.

As the company responsible for managing this Waste Bay daily, we understand the direct link between waste handling, hygiene, and public health. The handover of the Personal Protective Equipment Kits and Hand‑Wash Station is not just a donation, it is a practical investment in the safety of marketeers, waste workers, and the surrounding community.

💚Cholera prevention begins long before illness, it begins with clean hands, clean spaces, and clean systems.
This initiative strengthens the hygiene chain at one of Lusaka’s busiest markets and demonstrates how public‑private collaboration can deliver real, measurable impact.

This work directly supports Zambia’s 8th National Development Plan (8NDP) by improving public health, strengthening waste‑management infrastructure, and creating green jobs. It aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals especially SDG 3, 6, 11, 12, and 13 and advances Agenda 2063’s vision for a healthy, climate‑resilient, and environmentally sustainable Africa.

We applaud the leadership of the ZUEA alumni and call for the next critical upgrade:
⚡ Three‑phase electricity for the Waste Bay to enable baling, reduce daily waste accumulation, and improve operational efficiency.
