Yesterday, we visited Limited, a proudly Zambian manufacturing company located in Kafue.

The company specializes in the production of high-quality plastic products, including irrigation poly pipes, garden hose pipes, electrical conduit pipes, and PVC sewer and waste pipes serving critical sectors such as agriculture, construction, and infrastructure development.

The visit offered a valuable opportunity to appreciate the company's operations firsthand, while engaging in meaningful discussions around opportunities and challenges within the manufacturing sector.

Imperial Plastics expressed genuine excitement and gratitude for the engagement, recognizing ZAM's continued commitment to supporting manufacturers and championing industrial growth across the country.

These member engagements remain at the heart of what we do, strengthening partnerships, amplifying the voice of manufacturers, and driving sustainable industrial growth for a stronger Zambia.

The Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga, together with Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM), yesterday toured SoftCare Industrial Zambia Limited.

SoftCare Industrial Zambia Limited, a subsidiary of Sunda International, operates within the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (LSMFEZ), one of Zambiaโ€™s designated Special Economic Zones established to attract investment and promote export-oriented manufacturing.

During the tour, SoftCare Industrial Zambia Limited a manufacturer of sanitary pads, baby wipes, and diapers revealed that it has invested over USD 20 million in the facility and created more than 500 direct jobs.

In addition to direct employment, the investment has generated numerous economic opportunities through the engagement of local transporters, suppliers, and distributors across the value chain. The company further highlighted the need for additional land to support the expansion of its operations and meet growing market demand.

Speaking during the visit, the Minister emphasized the importance of expanding Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs) in contributing to exchange rate stability and overall macroeconomic growth. Referring to the workforce, he stated: โ€œWe cannot export if every employee and staff member is not putting in more than is expected,โ€ while commending the employees for their dedication to production and competitiveness.

In addition, Ms. Patience Hamayobe, Business Development Specialist at ZAM, underscored the critical role the Association continues to play in driving the growth and competitiveness of Zambiaโ€™s manufacturing sector and its contribution to national economic development and GDP growth.

She emphasized that ZAM remains committed to advocating for policies and strategic interventions that address challenges affecting manufacturers, foster a conducive business environment, strengthen local industrial capacity, and promote sustainable industrial growth in Zambia..
