This thing people keep saying about solar panels catching fire on rooftops is wild.

First, let’s be honest. If you’re hearing that kind of gist for the first time, it will scare you. Because fire and “roof” in the same sentence is enough to make anybody worry. But let’s not just follow every rumor. Let’s sit down and ask, does solar really set your roof on fire like people claim?

See ehn, the truth is this, anything that carries electricity has a risk if it is badly installed. Your normal house wiring can cause fire if it’s done carelessly. The socket you use every day can spark if wires are loose. Even the pressing iron or kettle in your house can start fire if misused. But nobody goes around saying, “Don’t use electricity, it burns houses down.” You know why? Because we trust the right people to install it well.

It’s the same with solar. A well installed solar system will not just catch fire from nowhere. Solar panels are built with glass and metal frames, and they don’t burn by themselves. What causes issues is usually bad wiring, fake parts, or someone trying to cut corners during installation. That’s not solar’s fault, that’s human error.

Now think about it. Cars burn sometimes, right? Does that mean people stopped buying cars? No. Because people understand that it’s not cars by nature that just burst into flames, it’s either poor maintenance, faulty wiring, or accidents. So why should we treat solar differently?

Let’s even go deeper. Do you know how many homes in Europe, America, and Asia have solar on their roofs? Millions. Whole estates, companies, schools, and hospitals depend on solar energy daily. If solar panels were naturally catching fire on rooftops like rumors say, don’t you think we would have seen global bans or massive headlines every week? Yet, those systems are running fine year after year.

This is why I keep saying: don’t let myths block your chance at progress. The devil some people fear in solar is not in the panels, it’s in poor choice
