Tips on Substructure stage shared by Morumu Innovations Limited
Key considerations when and prior to casting slab:
1- Never backfill and compact the inside of the foundation wall (box) before backfilling the outside space.
2- Always plaster the outer wall then paint it with bituminous paint to prevent moisture perpetration into the house.
3- Backfill the outside (outermost wall) before the inner space to prevent applying pressure on the outermost wall when compacting. This is to prevent minor movements outwards resulting in cracks in the foundation wall.
4- When casting the slab always remember to spray anti termite.
5- Compaction must be done in layers of 150mm and not as at once.
6- The DPM (black plastic) must cover the entire compacted area.
7- The Conforce wire must be placed in between the slab by using spacer blocks to hold in place (the middle of the slab) so that it serves a purpose of reinforcing the slab.
8- Use the right equipments/ tool and Skilled people.
