We need to talk about something that happens every single day across Zambia.
A landowner gets a quote from a man at the market. The price is negotiable. There is no paperwork. The work begins.
Three months later, the only cleared portion of the land is where the owner of the property parked when they visited the property during site assessment, or the fence has actually collapsed. The land was never properly cleared. The "contractor" is unreachable. And the landowner has paid nearly three times what a professional would have charged β for work that now has to be redone from scratch.
This is not a rare story. We see it every week.
In our latest article, we follow one client's journey from a handshake deal that went badly wrong, to a fully completed, professionally delivered project β with real numbers, real lessons, and a clear picture of what informal contracting actually costs you in Zambia.
If you own land, are planning a development, or have ever been tempted by a market price that sounded too good β this one is worth five minutes of your time.
