Keynote Reflections | Tech Careers Conference 2026

At the UNZAICTA and ICTAZ UNZA Chapter Tech Careers Conference & AGM 2026, we had the privilege of hosting a powerful keynote address from Ms Tetiwe Nzimah, CEO of Kiddies Commute.

Although she was unable to attend in person, her message, delivered on her behalf by the Chapter's SG, Mwimba Njikho, set a strong and thought-provoking tone for the conference.

Her keynote emphasized a critical reality:
Technology is no longer just an industry—it is the backbone of the global and local economy.

She highlighted that Zambia’s digital ecosystem is rapidly evolving, with growing opportunities across sectors such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, and digital entrepreneurship. However, alongside these opportunities comes a shift in expectations. Today’s ICT industry is not simply looking for graduates. it is looking for Problem solvers, Innovators, Critical thinkers and Adaptable professionals.

A central message of the keynote was the gap between academia and industry. While universities provide foundational knowledge, the industry demands practical application. the ability to build, solve, collaborate, and adapt.

Drawing from her entrepreneurial journey, she reminded students that technology careers are ultimately about solving real-world problems. Innovation begins with identifying everyday challenges and developing meaningful solutions.

She further challenged students to take deliberate steps toward career readiness; Build practical projects and strong portfolios, Continuously upskill and pursue certifications, Engage in professional communities, Develop entrepreneurial thinking and Build networks early.

Her closing message was both inspiring and directive:
“Technology careers are not just about systems and code, they are about shaping the future.”

At UNZAICTA, we are proud to create platforms that bring such impactful insights to students as we collectively work toward developing industry-ready ICT professionals.
