Hope Restored as Business Social Credit Scheme Supports Elderly Caregivers

A partnership between Chematek Lubricants and the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT) is bringing hope to vulnerable households through a community-focused social support initiative.
The latest intervention has provided timely relief to two elderly women in Bulawayo, highlighting the impact of collaborative efforts to address urban poverty.
Chematek Lubricants and ZDDT have extended a lifeline to two vulnerable elderly women from Ward 14 in Bulawayo through the Business Social Credit Scheme, an initiative aimed at addressing urban poverty by supporting disadvantaged households. The latest beneficiaries, 73-year-old Getrude Nyamadzawo, who lives with chronic back pain and struggles to provide for herself and her grandchildren, and 80-year-old Ozzie Tegha, who is blind and cares for her grandchildren despite her condition, received financial assistance to help meet their immediate food needs.
Ward 14 Councillor Dumisani Netha welcomed the support, commending Chematek Lubricants and ZDDT for demonstrating compassion and standing with some of the community's most vulnerable residents. He said the initiative was providing timely relief to families facing severe economic hardship. Expressing her gratitude, Nyamadzawo said, "I am deeply thankful to Chematek Lubricants and ZDDT for remembering me during this difficult time. Living with chronic back pain makes it impossible for me to work, and this assistance will help me provide food for my grandchildren and bring hope to our family." Ozzie Tegha also appreciated the gesture, saying, "Being blind and responsible for my grandchildren has not been easy, but this support has lifted a heavy burden from my shoulders. I sincerely thank Chematek Lubricants, ZDDT and our councillor for caring for people like us. May they continue to bless other families in need."
The Business Social Credit Scheme continues to demonstrate the power of partnerships in restoring dignity and hope to vulnerable members of the community. As Chematek Lubricants and ZDDT expand the initiative, more disadvantaged households are expected to receive much-needed support to help ease the burden of poverty and improve their quality of life.
