: Students from Cheikh Anta Diop University design a very innovative solar vehicle
The Auto Gazelle is an innovative project for a utility vehicle, all-terrain, transporting people, goods and also energy production. It was designed and manufactured by students from the Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar Polytechnic School of Dakar.
This solar utility vehicle was the main attraction, on the occasion of the celebration of the first edition of the Alumni days of ESP. As its name suggests, it is a light car, adapted to the African savannah, particularly to the Senegalese countryside. The “Gazelle” project was born from an idea of sustainable development and aims to solve two problems: water and electricity in rural areas.
It is especially rural actors who will rejoice, especially farmers. The Auto Gazelle can run a 500 watt water pump for more than 12 hours or a powerful 3000 watt electric machine for 2 hours without interruption. It is capable of supplying sufficient water to agricultural perimeters, especially during campaigns outside of winter.
About fifty students had worked on all the economic, technical, aesthetic and strategic aspects, under the supervision of eminent professors.
Congratulations to Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar which encourages its students to innovate.
