Overhead power line construction is a precise, multi-stage process and our team executed it today with the technical discipline and professionalism that defines our work:

🔹 Pole Er****on: Concrete distribution poles planted and aligned to correct depth and verticality, forming the backbone of the overhead network.

🔹 Cross-Arm and Insulator Installation: Cross-arms fitted at the pole head with pin and disc insulators mounted to provide electrical isolation between the conductors and the pole structure.

🔹 Conductor Stringing: Conductors paid out along the route and pulled through, ready for tensioning across the span.

🔹 Sagging and Tensioning: Conductors tensioned to the correct sag balancing mechanical strength with safe ground clearance.

🔹 Termination and Dead-Ending: Conductors securely terminated at pole structures, ensuring stable mechanical anchoring and reliable electrical continuity.

🔹 Working at Height, Safely Our linesmen worked from ladders at elevation, in full PPE hard hats, harnesses, and high-visibility gear following strict safety protocols throughout.

🔧 Substation Progress Update — 88kV Substation Construction

Another milestone reached on our 88kV Substation Construction Project, being undertaken and managed end-to-end by Jecca Engineering — from Electromechanical design coordination through to installation, testing and commissioning.

Progress So Far:
⚡ Instrument Transformers Installed
• Voltage Transformers (VTs): for accurate voltage sensing, metering and protection relay input
• Current Transformers (CTs): for current measurement, protection relaying and revenue metering circuits

🏗️ Structural Works
• Galvanized steel gantry and support structures assembled — forming the backbone for busbar support, equipment mounting, and overhead conductor termination points

Scope of Electromechanical Works Under Jecca Engineering (Ongoing or Upcoming):

⚡ Powering Progress: Jecca Engineering Delivers a New 33kV Overhead Line

Jecca Engineering (Pvt) Ltd is proud to share progress on the construction of a proposed 33kV Overhead Line (OHL) supporting a major industrial development in the Hwange region — a critical infrastructure investment reinforcing regional power capacity.

🔹 Stage 1: Design & Route Engineering
The project began with detailed route surveying and structure positioning, culminating in a comprehensive 33kV Line Construction diagram. The 10.4km route is engineered across three sections, comprising 91 structures and 91 poles in total, running parallel to an existing 132kV transmission line and adjacent to a railway corridor. A 15m wayleave has been mapped along the full route, with cadastral boundaries carefully observed where the line crosses pegged properties, and structure positions remaining subject to ground conditions and existing utility clearances.

🔹 Stage 2: Pole Distribution & Er****on
With the route finalised, our field teams moved into pole planting and er****on — setting wooden distribution poles along the corridor's undulating terrain, from valley floors to hilltop ridgelines, to maintain optimal ground clearance, span balance, and structural stability under design loading conditions.

🔹 Stage 3: Cross-Arm & Insulator Installation
Our linesmen, working at height using extension ladders and full fall-arrest harnessing, have been fitting cross-arms, pin and disc insulators, and associated hardware to each structure — establishing the electrical clearance and mechanical support required for the 33kV conductors once strung.

🔹 Stage 4: Conductor Stringing & Sagging (Ongoing)
Conductor stringing works are progressing structure by structure, with tensioning and sag calculations applied to each span to ensure correct ground clearance, phase spacing, and conductor tension within utility construction standards.

🔹 Stage 5: Testing, Commissioning & Energisation (Final Stage)
The completed line will undergo insulation resistance testing, earth continuity checks, phase verification, and protection relay testing before final handover and energisation — delivering reliable 33kV power to the new facility and reinforcing the regional grid.

Safety remains paramount throughout — our teams operate with full PPE, fall-arrest equipment, and strict adherence to live-line and working-at-height safety protocols on every climb.

Access roads and site clearance completed, enabling safe, efficient movement of plant, materials, and personnel across the project corridor.

🏗️ Civil & Foundation Works
Excavation, reinforcement cage fabrication, and formwork installation underway for substation foundations, plinths, and structural bases — engineered to withstand static and dynamic mechanical loading from the substation superstructure and switchyard equipment.

🔩 Structural Steelwork & Monopole Components
Galvanized monopole sections, cross-arm structures, and lattice steelwork staged on site ahead of er****on, with quality checks on component integrity and corrosion protection prior to assembly.

🗼 Monopole Er****on & Alignment
Progressive er****on of galvanized steel monopole structures along the transmission line route, with strict verification of vertical alignment, foundation anchor bolt torque, and structural plumb to ensure long-term mechanical stability under wind and conductor loading.

🏢 Substation Superstructure Works
Elevated reinforced concrete decking and formwork progressing for control building and switchyard structures, supported by scaffolding systems built to engineering safety standards.

Every stage — from earthworks to steel er****on — is executed under strict ZETDC standard compliance and uncompromised site safety protocols, delivering robust, resilient grid infrastructure.
