This is what corten steel is supposed to do.

When these laser-cut panels were installed at the Woodlea housing estate, the steel had only just begun its transformation.

Now the protective rust patina has developed — deepening the colour, defining the Billy Button pattern and giving the bridge rail the finish it was designed to achieve.

Harley was passing through the area and stopped to see how the job was progressing. Just 4 months of weather have made quite a difference.

Thanks again to Ballarat Pressings for their fine laser-cutting work.

A quick sketch. A couple of racks. One less storage headache.

Our local mates at Metalcore Roofing needed a better way to store long roof flashings without them getting damaged, mixed up or left in the way.

The brief arrived much like plenty of good fabrication jobs do — a few measurements, a hand-drawn sketch and a clear idea of what needed to work.

The Rosscos team turned it into these purpose-built steel racks, ready to keep the flashings supported, organised and easy to access.

Nothing overcomplicated. Just a practical solution, built to suit the job.

7.5 metres tall. Two metres square. One very careful lift.

The Rosscos team fabricated and primed this structural steel lift shaft for the Bacchus Marsh Grammar site at Woodlea, before heading out to install it in one piece.

At this size, fabrication is only half the job. The frame also has to arrive on site, clear the surrounding structures and land exactly where it belongs.

Thanks to Statewide Cranes for getting it there and Gary from Attain Cranes for helping the team guide it safely into position.

Built in the workshop. Lifted into place on site. Ready for the next stage of construction.

50 rag bolts. One bridge rail. Zero room for error.

Before a single post goes up on our next bridge rail project, the boys are fitting these into the formwork — so when the concrete sets, every post drops straight on, plumb and square, first time.

It's the unglamorous stuff that makes the glamorous stuff work.

Stay tuned — the rail itself is coming.

Fifteen years. Same client. Same exacting spec.

These frames are built by Rosscos for SeaGIS – an Australian company supplying underwater stereo camera systems to marine researchers around the world. The frames go into the ocean. Some have ended up as far away as Ireland.

They don't need to look impressive. They need to be dimensionally consistent, galvanise cleanly, and hold up in salt water indefinitely. That's the brief, batch after batch, year after year.

Galvanising coming up in the next few weeks – then these are on their way.

Measure twice, cut once? Sometimes you just fabricate on-site.

For this handrail at a Ballan Builders project, the Rosscos team headed out, fabricated the rail on location to get the fit exactly right, then brought it back to the workshop for powder coating — before returning to site for final installation and sign-off.

A bit more work. A perfect result.

200 metres. Two days. Four of the boys on site.

A look back at this shared path railing project in Tarneit, with the balustrade fabricated in-house at Rosscos, galvanised by Geelong Galvanizing and installed with the assistance of Statewide Cranes.

From workshop fabrication through to site installation, this one shows the kind of practical, made-to-spec work Rosscos can deliver for public spaces, estates and infrastructure projects.

Built tough. Built to spec. Built by Rosscos.

A very special custom project recently completed by Rosscos Engineering in collaboration with Wide Open Co – a variant of our usual conflict-focussed “Seats of Remembrance”.

Created in honour of close friend Greg Parry, the memorial seat was designed, fabricated and generously gifted by Rosscos to Greg’s family as a lasting tribute to his life and memory.

From initial design concepts through to fabrication, the project was carefully developed to reflect Greg’s personality, passions and the impact he had on those around him.

Greg’s seat now stands at Ballarat Cemetery as a lasting tribute, with Emma attending the memorial alongside Greg’s sister, Kira.

Some projects are more than just fabrication.

The Rossco Engineering team has been busy fabricating specialty bunk beds for a school project in Blackwood.

From cutting and welding through to assembly, these custom units are being built with a strong focus on durability, practicality and long-term use.

A great example of custom steel fabrication designed to suit a specific application and client requirement.

Another quality custom project coming together in the workshop.
