Here’s a quick test for your deck: if your fingers can sink into the timber like this, it’s time to replace it.

This one’s getting a full rebuild. We’re keeping the existing hand rail and putting it back on, adding a big new staircase down to the yard, and finishing it in Eco Deck Leatherwood.

The hardest part of this job? Getting in and out.

We’re building a brand new alfresco area here, with a new concrete slab and a concrete retaining wall. On a cliff top site, access is always a challenge. Every bit of old concrete had to be jacked up, carried up the side of the house and taken out to the skip bin at the front.

It’s a challenge but we love a challenge. Now the fun starts.

It started out in the dark.

On our Myamba project, we renovated the kitchen, living space and bathroom. The new skylights we installed changed the whole feel of the property, bringing natural light into every room.

The brushed brass tapware ties the whole look together.

Where can a Reno budget blow out? Usually it’s after demo.

Once an older home is stripped back, you find out what it’s really sitting on. On this one, the subfloor timber had rotted through, which you’d never spot from inside the finished house. It has to be replaced properly before anything new goes in.

Building up at our Grantham Rd project ⬆️

Structural beams carry the new floor and walls of a second storey down into the frame below. Each beam goes in level, square and fixed exactly to plan.

A second storey gives you more room to move without giving up your backyard.
