Do you know how FAE tracked carriers are assembled and tested?
At the FAE facility in Fondo, Italy, an area covering more than 8,000 square meters houses RCU and PT tracked carrier assembly, pre-assembly operations, and the component warehouse.
Everything starts with the frame, manufactured at the FAE facility in Gambellara. The materials required for each specific configuration are prepared by the warehouse and delivered to the assembly stations, where video terminals provide operators with essential information like instructions, bills of materials, and components organized by production stage.
RCU remote-controlled tracked carrier assembly involves around 3,000 components and takes between 4 and 7 working days. The larger PT tracked carriers involve up to 5,000 components, with a production time ranging from 5 to 7 working days, depending on the model.
The main subassemblies, including cabs, engines, radiators, and tanks, are prepared in the central section of the facility. A special manipulator is used to outfit the PT cabs, allowing the structure to be rotated and tilted. This improves ergonomics and enables operators to work in the most effective and safe position.
In-house wiring harness design and production ensure optimal integration of electronic systems, full supply chain control, and complete ownership of the expertise and technology behind every solution.
Once completed, each tracked carrier is transferred to the final testing area. Testing can take up to 6 hours and covers the hydraulic, electrical, and cooling systems, the machine’s control software functions, and attachment integration. The machine can be operated by remote control, allowing operators to monitor its performance from a protected position.
Only after passing all the required checks is the tracked carrier ready for the final pre-shipment operations.
