Polyethylene piping can appear to be the most cost-effective option, but it requires three to four times more bracketing than metal piping, adding both materials and installation hours to the job. On longer runs, the material's flexibility also means expansion joints are often required. In high-clearance warehouses, a pipe failure at height can mean a full day of production downtime to repair.
