Passive House Series: Lesson learned on siteπ§
A reminder that even with the best planning, site conditions can throw a curveball (especially in unpredictable Melbourne weather).
Recently, we had water make its way under the tarps covering the passive subfloor at our Mornington build.
In a standard build, a bit of water might dry out and be forgotten. But in a Passive House, moisture trapped in the subfloor is a serious issue. The whole system is designed to be airtight and sealed once complete, which means any moisture left behind has nowhere to escape - and that can lead to long-term problems like mould, timber damage, and compromised insulation performance down the track.
