Half of Tintinara turned up for Coleburra Poll Merinos fifth On Property sale and for good reason, not just the barby and good beer!

The obvious hint - 90 sold from 90 offered to a top of $11,000 to average a massive $3,912 suggests quality overload purchased by an adoring crowd.

Top gong in lot 11 CP 250995,bred by Mumblebone Merino 212410 from an incredible mum, had all the features that has thrust this place into another orbit.

Good shoulders, an arse like Aunt Lilly’s, fibre full of fluid nourishment and density and soak these up: PWT 6.9 YWT 8.5 YEMD 1.3 YFat 0.9 YCFW 27.8 YSL 24.9 PP & SM 155.

The most lively bidding sale I’ve ever attended locally and a reflection of our two markets going very well add the green stuff!

Classic 2026 team unleashed💥

Pretty good day out for Gunallo Stud with a top of $7,000 sold to Andrew Hall up Clare way, selling 111 of 120 offered to average $2,270 and a near spring type day compared to some coldies of recent years.

A ripper poll this fella with fibre supreme and perfect structure and no surprise of his sale topping capability. A twin and nestled into lot 6, 250856 flaunted a good balance of ASBV’s with YWT 8.5 YEMD 1.04 YCFW 20.1 & handy realtimes of 18.3u sd 2.9 cv% 15.7 0.2pf.

I didn’t actually get the buyers name for a favourite pick of mine in lot 41 but wished now that I’d gone a bit harder with my bidding on behalf of no one in particular!

Arguably the best shape in the shed with fibre not exotic yet nearly, he enjoyably made the dosh and was a Richmond Merinos 230080 son. Gunallo 250465, a twin had excellent ASBV’s too: YWT 9.2 YCFW 29.3 YSL 20.3 YEMD 1.9 YFat 1.24 & SM 158.

Blairgowrie Props Vic. bought sheizloads and deserve the gong for a trip for the whole family to Greece for a fortnight, all expenses covered!

I couldn’t get over how good the conformation of the Gunallo rams was on the day, particularly feet structure. Short upright pasterns was the order of the day of which our breed too often lacks.

The Classic ‘26 team of nine was absolutely stunning and will impress multitudes as they did over a few beers post sale with the days’ supporters.

Three days classing at Challara Poll equates to a lot of shots in yard and surrounds. The place is in good fettle at the minute reflected by huge results from ewe weaner joinings, massive staple length and growth amongst the ewe hoggets and by far the best group of sale rams I’ve ever witnessed here.

This year sees a startling upward curve at Challara with all traits firing. This year’s sale lineup will impress existing clients no end and it’s up to people like myself to let the world know just how relevant to the industry this joint is!

There has been an injection of Leahcim genetics via bought in pure blood ewes as well as a Leahcim sire 232733 that sold at Classic ‘24 for $25,000 with amazing ASBV numbers and visuals. Some of the sale lineup includes progeny from the cross and they’re next level! - August 5/6/7

💥 There are two Challara rams entered in Classic ‘26 and they’re a couple of absolute snorters and should be of interest to many - more detail to come.

After the Penrose Poll and Leigh and Karina West classing you’d wonder if the quality could be maintained for the rest of the week - enter the Welke family’s Westwood Poll.

Two solid days of Esperance Ram Sale cataloguing and 1,000 plus ewe hoggets suggests I can’t give this game away for a long time yet considering the built up quality here, race after race.

The Westwood sires are holding their own here add two incomings with this years hogget progeny.

Leahcim 233079 (bought at Classings Classic ‘24 for $36,000 in shares with Boorana Vic. and Nepowie W.A.) and Ridgway Merinos 230173 (bought by Nepowie at Classic ‘24 for $15,00 with Westwood a semen share) filled up over half of the 100 Westwood entry into the Esperance sale pens such was the outstanding progeny result.

Really intriguing at both studs to eyeball the now pedigree of top end rams witv both sire and dam - another bonus of DNA testing and subsequent ASBV’s.
