Meet James. 👋

For many residents living near the Warringah Freeway Upgrade, periods of night-time construction have been part of daily life for several years.

As the project's Out of Hours Community Coordinator, James is there to support community members when overnight works are taking place.

Whether answering questions, responding to concerns or helping residents access information about upcoming activities, James provides a dedicated point of contact outside standard business hours.

His calm, compassionate approach helps ensure community members feel heard and supported during what can sometimes be a challenging period of construction.

Suburban Connect has started tunnelling.

Our first tunnel boring machine, TBM Aayushi, has successfully launched from Clarinda.

The launch of TBM Aayushi marks the start of excavation of Victoria's longest tunnels – 16 kilometres of twin tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley – that form the southern section of Suburban Rail Loop East.

🎉🏆 Award-winning excellence at Melbourne Airport!

We're thrilled to celebrate our Melbourne Airport Naarm Way Stage 2 Pedestrian Bridge Project, which has taken out the Victorian State Award at the Australian Steel Excellence Awards.

This recognition reflects the hard work, innovation and dedication of our project team and delivery partners, who delivered an impressive piece of infrastructure in one of the country's busiest and most complex operating environments.

From planning and fabrication through to delivery, countless people contributed their expertise to make this project a success, and this award is a well-deserved recognition of their efforts.

A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone involved. Your commitment to excellence continues to set the standard for our industry. 👏

The project will now go on to represent Victoria at the national Australian Steel Excellence Awards, where it will be in the running for the national title.

🔨 Building the next generation of skilled workers.

CPB Contractors recently joined Jobs Bundaberg's Apprenticeships and Traineeships Information Session alongside MI Electric and Beavis and Bartel, connecting with local job seekers and sharing information on career pathways across the construction industry.

💬 "Creating opportunities starts with conversations. It was fantastic to connect with job seekers, students and educators and highlight the rewarding careers available across our industry," said Casey Gill, Senior Training Advisor.

Meet Kirsten! 👋

After 18 years with CPB Contractors, Kirsten Evans knows a thing or two about building great projects and even better teams.

As a Project Director, Kirsten has worked on some of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects, including helping deliver the iconic Sydney Metro North West.

One of the things she enjoys most about her role is developing people and helping the next generation of construction professionals build confidence and grow their careers.

As Chair of the NSW Women in Construction Committee, she's also passionate about creating opportunities for more women to thrive in our industry.

Her secret to building strong teams?

✅ Do what you say you're going to do.
✅ Have the hard conversations.

It's a leadership philosophy that's helped shape successful teams and projects throughout her career.

When she's not working, Kirsten loves exploring new camping spots in her caravan, spending time with family and friends, heading to the gym, and taking her Border Collie, Freddy, on outdoor adventures. 🏕️🐾

When Josje Gerlag travelled from the Netherlands to Australia for a six-month secondment with CPB Contractors' National Defence team, part of CIMIC Group, she gained far more than industry experience.

From contributing to Defence tenders and learning about Australia's construction market to exploring some of the country's most iconic destinations, the experience provided new perspectives, valuable connections and lasting memories.

Learning, growing and building connections 🎓🤝

Recently, 130 graduates from across the CIMIC Group came together in Brisbane for this year's Graduate Development Day.

Through sessions focused on sustainable business outcomes, self-awareness, trust and relationship building, graduates gained valuable tools to help them succeed both professionally and personally.

A highlight of the day was hearing from CPB Contractors QLD & PNG General Manager Vince Sanfilippo, who shared lessons from his career and encouraged graduates to remain curious, embrace new opportunities and "be a student for the rest of your career."

The event also provided valuable opportunities for graduates to connect with peers and leaders from across the Group, building relationships that will support them throughout their careers.

Innovation is taking flight on HumeLink West! Remote drone operations are now live on Transgrid's project following CASA approval, marking a first for CIMIC Group project delivery in Australia.

📦 “Drone in a box”: the drone is housed site in a secure, weatherproof box, launching on demand, and returning to power up.

🎥 Controlled from a remote operations centre in Lane Cove, Sydney, via secure communications and live video — the drone is on site, not the pilot.

Teams can view difficult terrain and active work areas from a controlled environment.
