WEEKEND VIBES

Another week done.

The jobs might never quite be finished in a vineyard… but sometimes you've just got to call it a week and enjoy where we get to live and work.

🔥 Light the fire.
🌅 Catch the sunset.
🥂 Enjoy the moment.

The vineyard will still be there Monday. 😉

Have a great weekend from the Vineyard Mates team.

What is your vineyard costing you — besides money?

If you're a grape grower, you've probably wondered more than once lately…

Is all this work actually worth it?

👉 You're putting more hours into the vineyard than ever.

👉 Your costs keep climbing, but your grape price doesn't.

👉 There's always another job that needs doing.

👉 Your family sees how much time the vineyard takes — but not always what you're getting back for it.

👉 And when something needs to happen, somehow it still comes back to you.

Spraying. Pruning. Repairs. Irrigation. Weeds. Machinery. Harvest.

Then there's the weather.

And the constant decisions about what needs doing next — and what you can afford to leave.

For a lot of growers, the vineyard isn't just taking money.

It's taking time.

Weekends.

Evenings.

Time with your family.

And eventually you have to ask:

What is my time actually worth?

You don't have to do every vineyard job yourself.

And asking for help doesn't mean handing over control of your vineyard.

Sometimes it simply means having the right people, machinery and experience around you so everything doesn't depend on you.

That's what Vineyard Mates is here for.

We can take care of individual vineyard operations, support you through the busy periods, or work alongside you to manage more of the vineyard workload.

So you can spend your time where it matters most.

Because Helping Growers Succeed shouldn't just mean growing better grapes.

It should mean building a vineyard that works for you, too.

If you're tired of carrying the whole vineyard yourself, let's have a conversation.

Tell us what's taking up your time — and let's see if there's a better way.

It’s encouraging to see the challenges facing South Australia’s wine industry being heard at the highest level.

For many growers, however, this isn’t just an industry discussion—it’s their livelihood, their family business and years of hard work tied up in every vineyard.

The pressure from oversupply, declining grape prices, rising costs and changing markets is real. What matters now is that these conversations lead to practical action—stronger markets, greater certainty and genuine support for growers making difficult decisions about their future.

A strong wine industry begins with sustainable growers. We hope their voices remain at the centre of what comes next.

Premier Peter Malinauskas will convene a meeting between key representatives of the South Australian wine industry tomorrow, to address growing challenges facing growers and winemakers.

For many growers, removing a vineyard isn't something they've decided overnight.

They've probably thought about it for months.

Maybe longer.

Do we keep going another season?

Will grape prices improve?

Do we spend more money maintaining the vineyard?

What will it cost to remove?

And what could this land become next?

They're big decisions — particularly when you've spent years working in that vineyard.

But once you've made the decision, you don't have to work out the removal process alone.

That's where Vineyard Mates can help.

From preparing the trellis and recovering wire and dripper tube, through to removing posts and vines, forming material into manageable piles — we're developing a complete vineyard removal solution to make a difficult job easier.

And we're learning something on every project we complete.

Better systems. Better equipment. Better processes.

So when the next grower calls us and says:

"I think it's time for the vines to come out…"

we know how to help them take the next step.

If you've been sitting on the fence wondering what to do with your vineyard, you don't need to have all the answers yet.

Start with a conversation.

Apparently, we’ve been creating a little roadside curiosity… 👀

We’ve seen plenty of people slowing down and peeking to see what the Vineyard Mates team has been up to.

There’s plenty more progress to come—so keep watching.

This week, the excavator has been steadily pulling established vines, clearing rows and consolidating material as this block begins its next chapter.

It’s a big job—and exactly the kind of work our operators and machinery are equipped to handle.

If you’ve been quietly wondering what vineyard removal might involve for your property, you don’t need to watch from the fence line.

Give Vineyard Mates a call and come and have a chat.

Making way for what comes next. 🚜

This vineyard removal project is well underway, with vines being pulled and organised into rows ready for the next stage of clean-up.

Removing a vineyard involves more than machinery—it requires careful planning around access, trellis materials, posts, wires and what the grower intends to do with the land afterwards.

Whether you’re removing an entire vineyard, reducing the size of a block or preparing land for what comes next, Vineyard Mates can manage the process from start to finish.

Considering the future of your vineyard? Let’s talk through your options.
