On Saturday 23 May, some of the FCS team proudly came together as the major event sponsor to support the Hunter Melanoma Foundation Annual Race Day at Newcastle Racecourse. An event that holds special meaning for our company.

Following the passing of Darren Farrelly from melanoma in 2023, the foundation plays a vital role in providing both moral and financial support to the Newcastle Melanoma Unit, helping to advance melanoma prevention and early detection initiatives.

We are honoured to be the major sponsor of such a meaningful cause and proud to have supported an event that raised an incredible $50,000.

A bit of rain didn’t dampen spirits, just strengthened the sense of community as we stood together in support of an outstanding cause.

Congratulations also to our own Brodie Brown, FCS Operations Manager, who was awarded Best Dressed Male!

Progress continues at Mt Pleasant, with several key milestones achieved across the site over the past few weeks.

Recent works include installation of dust hood curtains, completion of repairs to dust hood sheeting and flashings, and full installation of the head chute, now fitted with a spray bar.

Works are also advancing with small-bore plumbing nearing completion for the underpan setup. Sheeting has also been completed on the hen house section, marking another step forward in delivering this project.

A great result from the team as we continue to work towards completion of this project.

Progress is tracking well at the Ravensworth Tyre Change Facility in NSW, with structural steel now complete and cladding works now underway.

Roofing mesh is being installed ahead of roof and wall cladding, which is expected to be completed over the next two weeks. Final civil works are complete, with the last stage of construction, epoxy flooring, scheduled for completion by the end of May.

Delivered for Glencore, this purpose-built facility will support tyre change operations for haul trucks, loaders and water carts, reinforcing FCS’s capability in delivering complex, value-driven industrial projects.

Meet the team – Karen Golledge

Karen Golledge is our Senior Accounts Officer and a valued member of the FCS team. She joined FCS in June 2016, back when the business was much smaller, starting out in Accounts Payable before progressing into her current role.

With more than 25 years’ experience across accounts payable, administration and high‑volume customer service environments, Karen now leads our accounts team, bringing deep knowledge, steady leadership and a strong focus on service.

Karen genuinely enjoys working with numbers and building relationships with clients, but what really keeps her at FCS is the people. She values the supportive team culture, the way everyone lends a hand when needed and the strong rapport she’s built across the wider business and management.

FCS, for Karen, is a place where you can work hard, have a laugh and enjoy the people you work with day in, day out. She’s also very much looking forward to celebrating a big milestone – her upcoming 10‑year anniversary with FCS.
