I have been experimenting with a marble lifter idea. Here is a prototype. It works, but not reliably. Especially if I wind quickly. The obvious solution is to increase the tipping angle with a larger crank offset, but it will start to take up too much space in the area available for the run. Anyway it seemed like an interesting idea to try as I have not seen it done before.

Here is a new Chicken And Egg Box Magic Trick for you to download and laser cut. It is based on the self nesting Gozinta box from the 1960's. The dimensions are carefully chosen such that the box can actually fit inside itself. I thought a chicken and egg theme would be fitting. Download the plans at www.contraptioncart.etsy.com

I made a larger one of my hummingbirds with 4.8mm Tasmanian Oak veneer wood. I am very happy with how it turned out. I will probably offer these at this larger scale from now on. Message or comment if interested.
