It’s been a minute since we last posted here, and that’s because we’ve been quietly working on a massive structural shift behind the scenes!

After 17 years as a carpenter in the residential construction industry, we have made the transition into Building tiny homes on wheels and transportable dwellings.

Let’s be honest—the Australian housing and rental market is tougher than ever right now and with no end to it in sight. We wanted to provide a viable long term option for those wanting to escape the rat race and do things a little differently.

We’re taking our nearly two decades of experience and focusing it on building tiny homes on wheels without sacrificing on functionality and practicality for everyday living.

Welcome to the next chapter with Swanston & Co Tiny Homes.

We’re incredibly excited to share what we’ve been working on in the workshop—watch this space! 🔨🏡

Been busy the last little while helping to turn this previously wasted backyard space into what it is now. It’s been a pleasure seeing Bosworth’s vision for the space come to life. Thanks Ironbark Timber for supplying us with all the quality timber used on this job.

With a week to go before Christmas we thought we’d sneak another deck in around a pool. Time to start Christmas shopping 😉🎄

It was a hot week in the sun but we got it done here in Wurtulla just in time for Christmas. Thanks to Ironbark Timber in K***a Park for supplying us with all the timber that went into this job. The 140x25 Spotted Gum decking looks phenomenal and will age beautifully.

Love the feeling of getting a nice new stack of ClickDeck aluminium framing and Ekodeck decking delivered. We powered through the rain this week to get this one ready for use at Christmas. Thanks to Wilson Timbers in Brisbane for getting this gear out to us.

Really proud of how the pool area turned out on this place. We built everything including the deck, Glass pool fencing, pool pump enclosure, privacy screens, and the little shed. There’s a few before and after photos.

Been a bit quiet on Facebook but we certainly haven’t been quiet on the tools. We tidied up this rocky, unusable garden bed with a nice new composite deck. The customers didn’t want their yard all torn up by a machine to remove all the rocks and dig out the dirt so we decided to use the ClickDeck aluminium framing system together with Ekodeck composite decking to mitigate the water rot and termite issues that building a conventional timber frame deck poses.

Been loving using the ClickDeck aluminium framing system on some of our recent projects. It’s especially great for decking over concrete slabs and tiled areas or when we don’t have a lot of height to work with. Being aluminium, it’s lightweight, straight as an arrow, and almost totally eliminates the possibility of water rot in the frame and termite factors ultimately prolonging the lifespan of your deck.

This is a deck that we completed earlier in the year using Spotted Gum hardwood decking. Great to see it with a nice coat of oil and looking fantastic! Big thank you to Ironbark Timber for supplying all the framing and decking and Bolt In Co Sunshine Coast for supplying us with all our stainless steel fasteners.

We service the Sunshine Coast, North Brisbane, and Gympie. If you’re looking to have a deck built then contact us today.

A set of custom Merbau stairs. The old stairs and landing had completely rotted through making them unsafe to use. The customer wanted to finish the handrails and balustrades themselves as they had done previously with the rest of the house.
