"I couldn't recommend them more."
Big thanks to Jake Evans from Chapel Building Systems for this one. Jake's been using DPR for all his crane repairs and maintenance, and he had a fair bit to say πŸ˜‚
Reliable, quality work, and always willing to jump on something when the unexpected comes up. That's exactly what you want from the mob looking after your gear.
That's the whole game as a heavy diesel mechanic. Turn up, do it right, and keep the job moving. Same on every mobile crane repair across Sydney.
Cheers Jake, we'll see you next week for that service 🀝
Testimonial done, drink from the hose, hose drop 🎀 that's a wrap πŸ˜‚

Day 2 back on the tools. Rebuilding a 25 tonne truck crane.
Fresh flywheel housing machined up by Bert Brothers, the old one was cracked nearly everywhere and filling up with engine oil. New studs going back in, rear main seal, clutch, pressure plate, dummy shaft to line it all up, then the transmission and long drive shaft go in.
That transmission's about 300 odd kilos. Nothing about a 25 tonne crane is light work.
This is the stuff that keeps a machine earning instead of sitting in the paddock. Twenty years as a heavy diesel mechanic and this is still the good part of the job. Same hands on every mobile crane repair we do across Sydney.
And yeah, Riley Riley Perham the apprentice is on this one. He's alright πŸ˜‚
Stay tuned, we'll be putting it all together.

When the apprentice actually makes a good point πŸ˜‚
Every workshop's had this exact moment. Be honest, which one are you picking?
Bit of weekend fun from the team. Tag an apprentice who reckons he already knows it all πŸ‘‡

The only microphone I could find was a shovel.
Away on holidays but still had to share this one. Beau from Arbor Earth Solutions - Beau’s Tree Service sent through a testimonial and it means a fair bit.
Dom's been servicing and repairing their gear for years. Always on call, always quick to get them sorted. As Beau put it, you can't buy trust, you build it over time.
That's the whole game as a heavy diesel mechanic. Turn up when you say you will, do the job right, and look after the people who put their faith in you. Same on a chipper or truck as it is on a mobile crane repair across Sydney.
Grateful for clients like Beau. Cheers mate 🀝

This 40 tonne crane slows down with magnets.
Underneath a Liebherr today changing the diff pinion seal. The Telma on it is an electromagnetic brake. As the drive shaft spins, big magnets kick in and give it a hell of a lot of resistance, so the crane pulls itself up without leaning on the service brakes.
Less brake wear, more control when you're hauling up 40 tonne.
This is the stuff you pick up as a heavy diesel mechanic on these machines, not out of a book. Same knowledge behind every mobile crane repair we do across Sydney.

Won't start. Leaking oil. Bought it anyway.
Sent one of the boys out to inspect this little Bobcat. Battery flat, wouldn't turn over, oil leaking underneath. Client gave me a price. Most people would've walked away.
Twenty years as a heavy diesel mechanic tells you the difference between a machine that's stuffed and one that just needs a bit of work. So I took the punt.
That's the entrepreneur mind meeting the tradie mind. One sees the opportunity, the other knows how to back it up.
New battery, full service, changed a hydraulic hose, topped up the oil. She fired straight up.
Same eye we bring to every mobile crane repair job across Sydney, just on a smaller machine this time.
Stick around to the end for the little key trick that gets these small diesels going.

Everyone made good money in the mines. Not everyone walked away with something to show for it.
Dom saved most of his and put a deposit on his first house at 21, the house two of his kids grew up in. A lot of young blokes got the big pay cheques and let it slip through their fingers. Dom had a different plan.
That discipline is the same thing that built DPR into the heavy diesel mechanic and mobile crane repair business it is across Sydney today. Sacrifice now, build something that lasts.
What's a decision that changed the direction of your life?
