Last night we had the pleasure of attending the Lebanese Rugby League jersey launch and seeing the C&A Surveyors name proudly featured on the jersey.

Future childcare centre, current construction zone. Charlie, our Construction Manager, is out on site in Lidcombe helping bring this 3-storey childcare building to life - starting with set-outs that keep every trade aligned and every milestone on track.

Heritage buildings are beautiful… and rarely straightforward.

One missing as-built. One “that wall is probably straight.” One ceiling void you can't access. And suddenly your restoration turns into redesigns, variations, and extra site visits.

That's why we love 3D laser scanning for heritage: it captures the building as it truly is - intricate details, structure, and services - so you can design with confidence and protect what matters.

In our Kent Street project, we scanned to create a high-detail digital record that supports:
• accurate floor plans + elevations
• restoration / maintenance planning
• coordination around existing structure + MEP
• minimal disruption on site

If you work on heritage, this is the kind of “site truth” that makes everything downstream smoother.

Throwing it back to our Surveying History series... this time, one of Australia's most legendary outback surveyors: Len Beadell.

Before GPS, before satellite maps in your pocket, Beadell was out there running surveys across some of the toughest country on the planet - helping establish key sites for the Woomera rocket-testing range and laying out tracks that opened up huge stretches of remote inland Australia.

He's best known for the Gunbarrel Highway (famously aiming to keep it “straight as a gunbarrel”), and a string of other iconic outback routes that still show up on maps - including roads named after his family like the Connie Sue Highway, Anne Beadell Highway, and the Gary Highway.

What makes his story hit even harder? It wasn't just road-building... it was surveying grit: long distances, harsh conditions, and relying on classic field skills and astronomical observations to get it done. He later captured the adventures in books that helped cement his status as a true bush character (and a seriously good storyteller).

Six months ago we made our first donation to the Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation. Today we went back with our second.

$13,000 so far – supporting paediatric research, specialist equipment, music and art therapy, and upgraded facilities across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.

Happy Global Surveyors Day tomorrow! When an architect shows off a stunning new building, there's a quiet hero behind the spotlight – the surveyor who mapped the way.

Surveyors work peer-to-peer with architects, designers and builders to ensure no surprises on site: we set out the proposed foundation outline, verify that designs fit the land, and flag issues before they become expensive mistakes. Ever heard the horror story of a garage built 10cm over the property line and having to be demolished? It happens, and a proper survey could have saved that project.
