Ocius is proud to be supporting the performance verification of our Bluebottle uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) through a contract with Seisgadget Ltd.

This programme represents an important milestone in the growing collaboration between Australia and Japan, demonstrating how innovative maritime technologies can contribute to enhanced regional security and maritime domain awareness across the Indo-Pacific.

The verification activities will assess Bluebottle's ability to deliver persistent maritime and undersea surveillance capabilities across vast maritime domains. Powered by renewable solar, wind and wave energy, the Bluebottle USV is designed for long-endurance operations and provides a cost-effective, low-observable platform capable of monitoring activity both above and below the ocean surface.

As major maritime nations, Australia and Japan share a strong commitment to maintaining secure sea lanes and supporting a peaceful, stable and secure Indo-Pacific region. We are proud that Australian-designed and built technology is being sought to contribute to the security capabilities of one of Australia's closest strategic partners.

This contract builds on the increasing recognition of autonomous systems as a key component of future maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations and represents another exciting step forward for Australian innovation on the global stage.

Today we officially opened our new advanced engineering, production and maintenance facility in Sydney, alongside our state-of-the-art 24/7 Global Operations Centre supporting Bluebottle missions worldwide.

Officially opened by The Hon. Pat Conroy MP, Minister for Defence Industry, and The Hon. Senator Tim Ayres, Minister for Industry and Innovation amp; Minister for Science, the expanded facility significantly increases our capacity to deliver Australian-designed and built Bluebottle Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) for defence and civilian customers in Australia and around the globe.

With production scaling following the Australian Government’s $176 million investment announced earlier this year, the new site will support the delivery of additional Bluebottles for the Royal Australian Navy while meeting growing international demand for persistent maritime surveillance capability.

As Minister Conroy noted:
“Ocius is a great Australian success story, developing world-leading maritime technology right here in Sydney. Ocius is a prime example of Australian innovation and ingenuity that has created over 70 jobs over the last 12 months, while supporting other small businesses and jobs through its supply chain.”

The opening follows another significant step in our growth journey with the establishment of Ocius New Zealand and our first overseas maritime maintenance base in Auckland.

From our origins as a research project at UNSW to becoming a global provider of autonomous maritime surveillance technology, this investment reflects the dedication of our team, partners and customers who continue to drive innovation in sovereign capability.

The Australian 18 Footers League 2026-27 season got underway last Sunday, with Team Ocius proudly unveiling our new boat on the harbour.

A huge congratulations to our crew, Dante, James and Nick, on a fantastic start to the season.

With reigning world champion skipper John Winning Jr unavailable to sail Yandoo, his father and sailing legend John 'Woody' Winning stepped in. In a thrilling finish, Woody charged through the fleet in the closing stages to claim victory over fellow former world champion Michael Coxon, who was filling in for Joel Beashel aboard Thurlow Fisher Lawyers.

We're excited for the season ahead and proud to be part of such an iconic competition.

It was a pleasure to host Royal Australian Navy, Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Matt Buckley AO, CSC, RAN and Commodore Mick Turner to Ocius’ Sydney facility.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss RAN’s current acquisition of additional Bluebottle USVs, as well as tactical employment of the Bluebottle. It was also terrific to discuss the role of sovereign Australian innovation in delivering maritime surveillance and domain awareness.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Ocius and House of Kitch have won Corporate and Business Campaign of the Year at the Communication and Public Relations Australia 2026 Golden Target Awards.

This recognition marks a significant milestone, not only for Ocius, but for the broader Australian defence and technology sector. It is the first time a defence technology company has been recognised in this category in the awards' 50-year history.

Over the past year, we have worked closely with the outstanding team at House of Kitch to tell the Ocius story to audiences across Australia and around the world. Together, we have helped showcase how sovereign Australian innovation is delivering real-world maritime capability through our Bluebottle uncrewed surface vessel.

As Ocius continues to grow globally, clear communication is essential. While our vision is built around the role of technology in safeguarding maritime environments, it’s the people and partnerships that make it happen.

The results of this collaboration have been outstanding, helping to strengthen our reputation, expand our global reach, support recruitment and reinforce Ocius as an operationally proven leader in maritime autonomy.

Ocius was honoured to be featured at the Sydney Investment Summit 2026, hosted by the NSW Government, including Premier Chris Minns.

The Summit is a NSW Government flagship initiative designed to foster dialogue and strengthen investment links into NSW and Australia. It brought together leading global investors with senior political, business and policy leaders.

Discussion was insightful, focussed on the role of investors in securing sovereign capability and national security, resilient investment portfolios and underpinning growth.

The discussion reinforced the strength of Australian innovation and capabilities, and the role of companies like Ocius in developing critical technologies to scale and succeed.

Ocius CEO Robert Dane recently joined New York Stock Exchange Live to discuss the Ocius mission, Bluebottle USV capability and the integration of advanced sonar array technology from ThayerMahan and Thales Australia into the Australian Bluebottle USV fleet.

Ocius has successfully demonstrated the performance of lightweight, low-power acoustic arrays that enable Bluebottles to deploy sensors at varying depths and conduct long-endurance surveillance missions.

These capabilities have been proven through extensive real-world operations. Over the past two years, Bluebottle vessels have operated continuously north of Australia, covering more than 210,000 nautical miles and accumulating approximately 6,500 vessel days at sea.

By combining advanced underwater sensing with persistent autonomous platforms, Ocius is delivering enhanced maritime domain awareness and intelligence to support defence, security, and monitoring operations in some of the world's most challenging environments.

⛵ Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Ocius NSW Youth Match Racing Championship at CYCA Youth Sailing Academy!

After 52 races across two action-packed days at CYCA, a new NSW Youth Match Racing Champion has emerged. Congratulations to Ben Crafoord, Eddie Reid, Jacob Marks and Max Nearn from CYCA, who fought back from a 0-2 deficit in the final to defeat Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron's James Hayhoe and claim the title.

Ocius is proud to support youth sailing and the next generation of maritime leaders. Congratulations to all competitors, volunteers and organisers who made this year's championship a success.
