Two relief air dampers had been replaced so I was back on site connecting up the Belimo actuators. The old brackets had been thrown out with the old dampers so found a couple of random brackets in the plantroom. Sometimes you just have to make do with what you’ve got.

Hopefully this explanation on how they work made some sense.

Service call for a fault status on the BMS for this AHU. As you can see the mechanical board and the BMS pick up their fault indication from different points. So if you were to just look at the mechanical board you’d think the fan is running especially since it’s drawing current.

BMS techs, are you stopping the chilled water valve etc from opening if the pressure switch isn’t made?

On site for a another service call and noticed this supply air fan was in fault and the overload was tripped.

Found we were dropping voltage through line 2 of the contactor causing the fan to run on 2 phases, draw excessive amps and trip.

Always have to check all components as it’s easy to just condemn the fan and say the motor is faulty.

Recap on contactor & overload and a look at auxiliary contacts and how you can add extra N/O & N/C contacts if needed.
