The bed labels were still on the wall when the Burnet Ward strip-out began at Mulgrave Private Hospital. Curtains on their tracks, bedheads in a row along one wall.

The new ward is planned as 20 single bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. Getting there starts here: taking the old layout back to the slab so walls, wet areas and services for twenty rooms can be set out from scratch.

At our Mulgrave site, fire walls are being installed as part of the refurbishment. With the space demolished back to a clean slate, it's a chance to build fire separation into the new layout properly - fitting fire-rated systems and sealing every service that passes through, all done carefully around a hospital that keeps running throughout.
