Planning a work shed? The biggest mistake is sizing it around what you need instead of how you need the space to work. Sounds simple right?
A ute, tractor or piece of machinery might technically fit inside the dimensions on paper, but that doesn't mean the shed will be practical once you add benches, shelving, tools, materials and the clearance you need to actually move around them. (letting your tyres down to drive in isn’t a practical fix).

Before you settle on your work shed size, think about the full workflow:
1. What needs to fit inside?
Start with the obvious. Vehicles, machinery, trailers and equipment. You then add everything that tends to live around them. Toolboxes, shelving, workbenches, compressors, parts and materials. You'll be saying bye to usable floor space pretty quickly.
2. What might need to fit in five years?
A shed is a long-term build. If there’s a chance you'll add another vehicle, upgrade machinery, grow the business or simply accumulate more gear, planning a little extra capacity now can save you some headaches in the future.
3. Can you actually get everything in and out?
Door width and height are only part of the equation. Do you need turning room? How long is your trailer? Will you be unloading and loading pallets? If you're unsure where to start our team can talk you through all the possibilities.
4. Where will the work happen?
A workbench squeezed into a corner isn't going to be one that is used to its fullest potential. Plan for your dedicated work zones, storage and clear walkways before you decide on the final footprint.
5. Do different uses need their own zones?

Once final piece of advice? We've never heard someone complain about their shed being too big. Save this before you start planning your shed dimensions.

Order ASAP for your structure to be completed before Christmas.

The silly season is coming, be sure to order your kit before its too late.

Shed kits take 3-5 weeks for delivery, concrete takes time to cure and tradespeople need to work shorter hours in the summer heat. If you need your structure completed in time for Christmas or the New Year, be sure to order ASAP, spaces are filling quickly.
