After the huge amount of interest generated at FarmFest last week, we've now completed the first of several onsite demonstrations of the FJ Dynamics RM21 autonomous mower.

This site was a great test case, featuring a thick Kikuyu lawn along with several steep sections that was challenging for clients zero turn mower to handle. The RM21 handled the conditions with ease, maintaining consistent performance and showing exactly why autonomous mowing is gaining so much attention.

It's one thing to see a robot mower on a trade show stand, it's another to watch it working in real world Australian conditions.

Big news for Robot Solutions, we’re proud to announce our partnership with FJ Dynamics for the RM21 robotic mower platform.

Over the years, we’ve had countless requests for a commercial robotic mower solution. To be honest, we never believed something spinning little razor blades could realistically handle tough Australian commercial conditions so we kept looking until now...

After seeing the RM21 in action, we knew this was different. Built specifically for large-scale commercial applications, the RM21 combines serious capability with advanced safety and navigation systems that make autonomous mowing practical for Australian sites.

Key features of the RM21 include:
• Cutting width: 25 inches / 635mm
• Adjustable cutting height: 20–127mm
• Operating speed: up to 6 km/h
• Max mowing area per charge: up to 12,000m² (3 acres)

Australia’s first outdoor autonomous sweeping robot installation is now live 🇦🇺🤖

This Pudu MT1 Max is operating at ISDS Warehousing in Charlton, autonomously cleaning:
• 7,000m² of outdoor concrete areas overnight and on weekends
• 6 warehouses during scheduled intervals throughout the work week

The setup includes:
⚡ Custom-built outdoor docking shed
🌧️ Rain sensor integration
🚨 Safety lighting
📡 Advanced LiDAR navigation

This project is a great example of how autonomous robots are moving beyond indoor-only applications and starting to tackle real-world industrial environments outdoors.

Nothing beats testing components in the real world.

Spent the afternoon with putting their vacuum suction cups and vacuum generators through their paces for an upcoming customer installation.

Festo has excellent documentation and sizing tools, but when you’re designing a real automation system it’s important to get hands-on and test with the actual product.

A few things stood out straight away:

• Suction cup material and geometry make a big difference depending on the surface
• The right vacuum generator can improve cycle times and reduce air consumption
• Small setup changes can dramatically improve grip reliability

Vacuum handling is one of the simplest and most reliable ways to move parts in automation, especially for robotic pick-and-place applications.
