The first version is rarely the final version.

A look back at one of our R&D projects: better-for-you multivitamin gummies.

What starts as an early concept often needs several rounds of testing before it becomes something more refined, consistent, and commercially practical.

With gummies, small changes can make a big difference: texture, colour, coating, flavour balance, shape, stability, and how the product holds over time all matter.

If your hydration drink tastes โ€œhealthyโ€ but not enjoyable, the fix is usually not more flavouring.

A few things to check first:
โ€ข keep the electrolyte load effective, but not so high that it turns sharp or overly salty
โ€ข build a better sweetness system so it tastes clean, not flat or artificial
โ€ข manage acid, minerals, and flavour together so the aftertaste does not linger
โ€ข work on mouthfeel too, because a drink can be technically functional and still feel unpleasant to drink

The goal is not just to make a hydration product that works on paper. It is to make one that feels refreshing enough for repeat purchase.

That is where good beverage development matters most.

FEA had the privilege of connecting with so many passionate food founders, hearing their stories, seeing their products up close and being part of the Peopleโ€™s Choice Award.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, voted, supported the brands and brought such great energy to the day.

Congratulations again to winners, and a big well done to all the runner-ups and participating founders. Every product represented a story, a risk, a dream and a lot of hard work behind the scenes.
