Selectronic Australia Australian made solutions for renewable energy storage systems
💡 In 1994 the company produced one of the world’s first true sine wave inverters.

Founded in 1964 by the Scott family, Selectronic Australia quickly established itself as a major manufacturer of custom made transformers and inductors for the local electronics industry. In 1981 the company’s electronics products division was established to meet a need for quality power conversion products in the emerging renewable energy market. At a time when power inverters were new and renewa

ble technologies were just starting to emerge, Selectronic Australia became an innovator in the field by producing its first power conversion product - a 360 Watt DC to AC modified square wave inverter. Driven by demand from the Solar industry and a passion for green energy, Selectronic Australia expanded its product offering to include models with higher power ratings. This brand new technology overcame the shortcomings of the modified square wave products and revolutionised the quality of the customer’s power in Off Grid energy systems. Selectronic Australia has grown through a philosophy of providing products and solutions that focus on the customer needs and today this second generation family company is one of the largest Off Grid inverter manufacturers in the world. Using innovative technologies, Selectronic Australia’s power conversion products provide a cutting-edge basis for efficient, cost effective and green renewable energy systems.

A unique industry experience is coming for New Energy Training students.

Students attending the upcoming Stand-Alone PV/Genset Systems course will have the opportunity to visit Selectronic HQ in Wantirna South, VIC and take part in a behind-the-scenes factory tour of their Australian manufacturing facility.

The visit will provide insight into how Selectronic products are built and tested, helping future off-grid installers better understand the technology and manufacturing process behind standalone power solutions used across Australia.

This experience connects formal training with real-world industry exposure, giving students a valuable look inside Australian clean energy manufacturing.

Interested in attending? Registrations for the New Energy Training Stand-Alone PV/Genset Systems course are currently open, with EOFY discounts available until Tuesday.

Congratulations to Rod and Ken Scott on receiving the SEIA VIC Lifetime Contribution Award.

Long before battery rebates, virtual power plants and mainstream energy storage, there were individuals helping make renewable energy practical, reliable and accessible across Australia.

For more than 60 years, Rod, Ken and the team at Selectronic have played an important role in that journey – supporting installers, investing in Australian manufacturing and helping develop technologies that continue to power homes, businesses and communities today.

The award recognises not only the contribution of Rod and Ken, but also the impact Selectronic has had on the growth and evolution of Australia’s renewable energy industry.

A well-deserved recognition for two people who have helped shape the industry that many of us work in today.
