North Construction & Building has been awarded the Certificate of Professional Excellence in the Commercial Construction ($25M–$60M) category at the AIB National Professional Excellence Awards 2026.

We're incredibly proud to announce that our Gosford Regional Library project has been awarded a Certificate of Professional Excellence in the Commercial Construction ($25M–$60M) category at the 2026 National Professional Excellence in Building Awards, hosted by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) at the Hyatt Hotel, Canberra on Friday 28th August. This recognition is more special as it lands in the AIB's 75th anniversary year - a proud milestone to share in.

Heartfelt congratulations to Senior Project Manager Joel Price, who accepted the award as Team Leader, and to the entire project team whose skill, dedication and craftsmanship brought this landmark community space to life: “I was honoured to accept this award on behalf of the team, all who contributed to the success of this project. This recognition reflects the commitment, skill, and teamwork demonstrated by everyone involved from concept to completion. To our project team, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and Central Coast Council, thank you for the trust, collaboration, and countless hours invested in achieving a shared goal. This award represents the collective effort of all involved, and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved.”

At North Construction & Building, we believe the future of our industry and our region is built by investing in young people today.

That's why we're proud to once again present The North Challenge, now in its fifth year. This program invites Year 10 students from across the Central Coast to step into the shoes of business leaders and tackle one of the most significant issues facing our community: meeting the housing needs of a rapidly growing population.

This year's challenge asks students to “develop a business case for an innovative solution that will help the Central Coast Region meet the housing needs of its growing population" - a genuine, real-world problem with local impact.

We're delighted to welcome six local schools into the 2026 program:

▪️ Central Coast Grammar School ▪️ Kariong Mountains High School ▪️ Lisarow High School ▪️ MacKillop Catholic College ▪️ St Joseph's Catholic College ▪️ Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College – Berkeley Vale Campus

Across a series of hands-on workshops, student teams work directly with North's mentors and industry experts — developing skills in strategy, budgeting, feasibility, programming, and marketing, and ultimately building and pitching a complete Business Case. It's the same disciplined approach we bring to every project we deliver.

None of this would be possible without our valued partners - Business NSW Central Coast, Pacific Link Housing, the University of Newcastle, and Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) - who share our commitment to nurturing the next generation of thinkers, builders, and leaders.

The program culminates in the Pitch Presentation Day on Wednesday 4 November at the Red Tree Theatre, Wyong, where teams present their solutions to a panel of industry professionals.

Programs like The North Challenge remind us that shaping the future starts now - through mentorship, real-world learning, and a genuine investment in our young people. We couldn't be prouder to lead it.

Congratulations to Nicole Redmond on being recognised in the 2026 Top 100 Women in Construction.

On congratulating Nicole, North CEO John Melvin said - "Nicole's influence can be seen in almost every part of North. With more than 30 years of senior leadership experience across retail and construction, she has played a significant role in building the business we are today. I've worked closely with Nicole for the past 16 years and have seen first-hand the impact she has on the people around her. Her care for our team is genuine, and she brings an unwavering commitment to growth, learning and continuous improvement that makes North a better business every day."

As an Executive Director, Head of People, Culture & Corporate Services and part of the North ownership group, Nicole leads the people strategy for our 100% employee-owned business while contributing to Board decisions on governance, growth and succession. A Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, she is a passionate mentor, sought-after speaker and serves on the Boards of Coastlink and the Business NSW Central Coast Regional Advisory Council.

Nicole has been a consistent advocate for a more inclusive and accessible industry. She is currently President of Women in Building & Associated Services, having served on the committee since 2019 including five years as Vice President, and was awarded the WIBAS Women in Building Award in 2017 at the MBA Newcastle Building Excellence Awards. Under her presidency, WIBAS has secured ongoing MBA and industry sponsor support for its 2026 event program.

Her most lasting work has been what she has built for other people. Nicole co-leads North's True North leadership development program, now in its fifth cohort, pairing bi-monthly workshops with 1:1 executive mentoring and giving our people a direct line to the Board where their feedback shaped the work-life integration model now in place across North. She conceived and championed the Women in Construction Regional Roadshow, which each year connects around 130 female students in Years 9 to 12 with 22 industry, training, higher education, and government partners, alongside players from the Central Coast Mariners A-League Women's squad. Over three years it has engaged close to 600 students. Nicole also leads The North Challenge®, established in 2022, which asks entrepreneurial Year 10 students across the Central Coast to tackle a real regional problem how the Coast meets the housing needs of a growing population with every participant offered work experience at North.

The context matters. Women make up just 13.5% of the NSW construction workforce and only 2.9% of trade roles nationally. At North, women make up 25% of our team and growing. This recognition reflects not only Nicole's professional achievements, but the influence she continues to have in opening the industry up to the people who come next.

On Friday 14th August, the North team came together at Gosford RSL Club for our 2026 Annual Conference - a full day dedicated to one powerful idea: Excellence.

Because at North, a podium finish isn't enough. We're chasing triple gold - best-in-class strategy, ex*****on, and delivery and making our Excellence value real in the everyday work we do.

From our Excellence Workshops with John Melvin to hands-on sessions across every part of the business - PM, Site Management, Estimating, Apprentice, Administration, IT, HR, and Business Development Excellence - the day was about answering one honest question: "What does a good job look like in this role, when done to the North standard?"

We were proud to welcome guest speaker Richard Young for our Team Excellence session. A Shingo Master Trainer and performance leadership specialist, Richard challenged us to simplify our systems, align our people, and build environments where high performance is sustained not just chased. On Sunday 23 August, Team North took on the challenge of the Pat Farmer Quicksand 2026 Soft Sand Run at Terrigal Beach, joining participants in support of SOKS - Save Our Kids (Save Our Kids from Su***de) and local surf lifesaving clubs. With various events through the morning, our team completed the 10km relay run on soft sand.

We are proud of the team for getting involved, having some fun and supporting a cause that enhances the lives of kids on the Central Coast.

A huge congratulations to our North team members recognised at this year's Central Coast Apprenticeship Awards!

Congratulations to all the winners of the Central Coast Apprenticeship Awards, held on Tuesday night! These awards have been running for over 20 years in partnership with Ourimbah TAFE and simply wouldn't be possible without the support of local employers and our fantastic sponsors.

We're especially proud to celebrate our very own North team members who were recognised on the night:

Cooper Gifford-Cock – Certificate III Carpentry, 3rd Year Apprentice Winner (Stage 3 Winner - 2025), taking home a $500 Makita Australia voucher to spend at Kincumber Mitre 10. Nice work, Cooper!

Jesse Hackman – MBA President's Award 2025 Roofing Finalist (3rd Place), as well as President's Roofing Award Runner-Up and winner of the Good Chippy Award. A fantastic effort across the board, Jesse!

A WIN FOR THE WEST!

We're incredibly proud to share that North Construction & Building has been named WINNER - Public Buildings Over $5 Million at the 2026 Master Builders Association of NSW Western Regions Excellence in Building Awards for the Dubbo Hospital Pathology Relocation!

Engaged by NSW Health Pathology and contract-managed by NSW Public Works, our team delivered the new Dubbo Hospital Pathology through the demolition and remediation of the existing Block M building, followed by extensive alterations and additions to construct a brand-new Pathology Department. The scope spanned new sewer drainage, structural steel and a new plant deck, roofing, specialist joinery, and a full suite of new services - electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, nurse call, pneumatic tube, and medical gas - plus the careful relocation of existing pathology equipment into its new home.

What makes this result so special? Every stage of this $7.2 million project was delivered while the hospital remained live and fully operational - a true testament to the planning, coordination, and care of everyone on site.

Happy 50th Anniversary to the Central Coast Community Women's Health Centre — congratulations on such an incredible milestone!

Our team had a wonderful night celebrating with colleagues and friends at the 50-Year Gala on Friday 24th July at voco Gosford by IHG, with MC Maz Compton and a powerful keynote from author, educator and gender-based violence advocate Jess Hill.

Bluewave Stage 3 has recently reached completion, delivering a significant upgrade to resident accommodation and support facilities.

The project included the refurbishment of 10 resident bedrooms with adjoining ensuites, along with a refreshed kitchenette, sitting room, and lounge area to enhance comfort and amenity for residents.

In addition to the resident-facing spaces, extensive upgrades were completed to the facility's back-of-house areas, including new cleaners' rooms, dirty utility areas, storage rooms, and hot water plant infrastructure.

The facility's rear entrance was also transformed with new brickwork, automatic sliding doors, honed concrete flooring, and landscaping, creating an improved arrival experience and modernising the overall appearance of the building.

A great outcome delivered through strong collaboration between the client, consultants, subcontractors, and project team.
