Formula Electric Belgium

Formula Electric Belgium Formula Electric Belgium is a team of (engineering) students that design and build electric racecars! Formula Electric Belgium is not just a racing team.

Formula Electric Belgium unites a group of motivated engineering students from different campuses of KU Leuven University and Thomas More University College in Flanders, Belgium. The Formula project offers the team members a working environment which resembles to a realistic case, in which they have to apply all their technical and soft skills. Apart from enhancing these skills and bringing their

education to a higher level, the practical goal of the project is to design, build and drive an electric Formula Student race car. In the process, they are joined by several partners who help realize the building of the car. After a year of development and manufacturing processes, the team will participate in several international events of the Formula Student competition. The project offers a platform in which technological partners can showcase and test their latest innovating developments. The team wants to share the acquired knowledge and experiences with other students by developing informative and educational packages to promote engineering technology and science with a focus on electrical mobility.

🏁 FS Spain Day 5-7 Recap 🏁

Time for the Dynamic Events! 🏎️💨

Day 5:
We kicked off the day with Driverless Skidpad, successfully completing our first-ever run on the first attempt! ✅ Right after came Manual Skidpad, where we clocked 4.9s, beating our previous best by 0.2 seconds ⏱️. In the afternoon, TMC Zenith finished its first Driverless Autocross. We then nailed Manual Acceleration with a time of 3.5s, smashing our best-ever time by 0.2 seconds, a record that didn’t last long, as we beat it again in the nighttime Acceleration Event with a 3.4s run! ⚡🌙

Day 6:
Day 6 started with setting a time in DV Acceleration, followed by becoming one of only 4 cars to complete Trackdrive! 🔥 In the afternoon, Autocross was up next , but a cooling leak forced us to stay longer in the pits and miss our first slot 💧. We managed to fix it just in time to rush into the queue before the event ended, but as we joined, the weather turned to rain ☔ and the event was interrupted.

Day 7:
Overnight, it was announced Autocross would resume at 8am. Day 7 started early, with just enough time for one safe lap before jumping straight into Endurance 🏁. The 22km Endurance was a constant battle against the heat 🔥, our drivers had to keep the battery temperature down while pushing as hard as possible. We were even joined by our main sponsor TMC_Belgium , cheering us on throughout the race 🙌. That night at the Award Ceremony, we claimed our 2nd Efficiency title BACK-TO-BACK! 🏆🏆

🏁 FS Spain Day 1-4 Recap 🏁

Day 1:
We arrived at FS Spain and jumped straight into battery scrutineering, making good early progress but not quite finishing it up. ⏳

Day 2:
Day 2 kicked off with mechanical scrutineering, no major issues, and we worked through most of the checklist before running out of time ⏱️. From there, TMC Zenith headed straight to electrical scrutineering ⚡. In the afternoon, our business plan team presented our fictitious company NovaLovan 💼, and we closed out the day by passing both battery and mechanical scrutineering on our second attempt! ✅

Day 3:
We started with the Cost & Manufacturing Event, followed straight by Engineering Design 📐. Then it was back to electrical scrutineering ⚡, which we finished successfully ✅. After a team photo at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya 📸, we tackled our first DV scrutineering of the season. With DV now integrated, TMC Zenith’s official weight is 190kg! ⚖️🔥

Day 4:
The final day before dynamic events, everything had to be signed off to compete 📋. We validated DV scrutineering early in the morning , then knocked out tilt, rain, and brake tests back to back ✔️✔️✔️. Only the Emergency Braking System test remained 🛑, which took several attempts and the whole afternoon to nail 💪.

After 4 days of intense scrutineering, TMC Zenith is ready for Dynamic Events! 🏎️💨🏁

🏁 FS Czech Day 4-6 Recap 🏁

⏳ 2 days to come back in the competition...

Day 4:
With only 2 days left, we had to pass all 4 remaining technical inspections before Day 5. We started off directly into electronics scrutineering. After receiving feedback and fixing small issues on the LV side, we went back and passed Low Voltage and High Voltage scrutineering✅
TMC Zenith was then officially weighed, reaching an all-time low of 183.5 kg on competition! We closed the day by passing both Rain Test 🌧️ and Brake Test 🛑, finishing all required technical scrutineering right on time!

Day 5:
The day started with our Endurance run, scheduled for 9am. The 22 laps went smooth: TMC Zenith was reliable and held a decent pace throughout. After 22 km of racing, we passed post-scrutineering, and our energy meter showed only 3.6 kWh used out of 6.4 kWh! ⚡
We spent the rest of the day cleaning and watching other teams run, before heading to the Award Ceremony that evening.
And the result? 🏆1st place in Efficiency🏆, our first ever win at a Formula Student dynamic discipline!

Our FSCzech performance wasn’t just a comeback, it was a standout performance against the best teams in the world

🏁 FS Czech Day 1-3 Recap 🏁

3 intense days of competition — stress, sweat, and wrenches involved 🔧

Day 1 📊: Business plan presentation in the morning, while the car went through mech and battery scrutineering. Didn’t pass any scruti this time, but the team kept pushing hard to fix all the small issues 💪

Day 2 🚗: CMR event went great! Most mech scruti issues fixed, but new problems popped up with the mainhoop. Good news though — battery scruti passed ✅

Day 3 ⚙️: Started the day with the engineering design event, then spent the whole day battling the mainhoop... until finally fixing it and passing mech scruti right at the very end 🙌 To wrap things up on a fun note, the team joined the Yeast Beast event (just for fun, no points on the line) 🍺

Onwards and upwards — next stop: the track 🏎️💨
