On World Oceans Day, we celebrate the ocean as the source of life, biodiversity, and balance for our planet.

For centuries, traditional sea saltworks have lived in harmony with the sea, creating unique coastal ecosystems that support wetlands and wildlife while preserving a deep connection between nature and human activity.

At SEASALT Europe, we believe protecting the ocean also means protecting the ecosystems and traditions that depend on it.

On World Environment Day, we are reminded that climate change is no longer a distant threat, it is already transforming ecosystems, coastlines, and communities around the world.

For centuries, traditional sea saltworks have existed in balance with nature, creating and sustaining unique wetlands that support biodiversity and coastal resilience.

At SEASALT Europe, we believe protecting the environment also means preserving sustainable practices that work in harmony with natural ecosystems and help safeguard our future.

On the European Day of Parks, we celebrate the natural spaces that safeguard Europe’s biodiversity and environmental heritage.
For generations, traditional sea salt farming has shaped and sustained wetlands of remarkable ecological importance. Today, many of these unique environments are protected as natural parks and provide vital habitats for a wide variety of animal and plant species.
More than production sites, sea saltworks are living ecosystems where nature and human activity have evolved together in balance.
At SEASALT Europe, we believe protecting sea salt heritage means protecting the ecosystems that sea saltworks help create and sustain.

This week, our colleagues at Europe swapped the office for an extraordinary journey to discover the origins and artisanal processes behind sea salt production in Gran Canaria.

They had the opportunity to visit:
• The historic Salinas de Tenefé
• The iconic Salinas de BocaCangrejo

A huge thank you to Manuel Navarro and Nadia Martina for warmly welcoming us and opening the doors to your world.

Thank you for sharing your passion, your craftsmanship, and the traditional know-how that makes your work truly unique.

A genuine example of dedication, heritage, and excellence.

We continue building connections and sharing experiences that inspire us to grow together.

From May 11–17, SEASALT Europe joins the World Salt Awareness Week 2026 to support informed and responsible salt consumption as part of a balanced diet and healthier lifestyles.

According to WHO, excessive sodium intake is associated with hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. This is why international health authorities recommend limiting daily salt intake and encouraging greater awareness of the salt present in processed and prepared foods.

Understanding nutritional labels, choosing lower-salt options when possible, and promoting transparency in food information are important steps towards more conscious consumption habits.

At SEASALT Europe, we support a balanced approach: encouraging responsible salt intake while defending sustainable and traditional sea salt production deeply connected to Europe’s coastal heritage and natural ecosystems.

On World Migratory Bird Day, we celebrate the unique bond between Europe’s salt pans and the migratory birds that rely on them.

For centuries, traditional sea saltworks have shaped coastal landscapes into thriving wetlands, offering essential resting, feeding, and nesting grounds for species traveling vast distances across continents.

At SEASALT Europe, we are committed to protecting this shared heritage. By supporting sustainable sea salt production, we help preserve these fragile ecosystems and the biodiversity they sustain.

Because protecting sea salt means protecting the natural pathways of life.

We are the Voice of Sea Salt in Europe

The European Sea Salt sector is a strategic activity for the continent's economy and resilience. Salt is an essential raw material for the chemical industry, winter road safety, water treatment, food, and numerous production processes. Its role is cross-cutting, critical, and often invisible, but indispensable to the functioning of European society.

Our strength lies in collaboration.
Our responsibility is to speak with one voice.

📍 And that voice will come together on June 17 and 18 in Mallorca at our Third Annual Meeting.

A key space to analyze regulatory challenges, share strategic vision, and build the future of the European sea salt sector together.

Mallorca awaits us.
The voice of the sector needs yours.

The landscape of the sea saltworks remind us of where we come from: tradition, process, nature, and time.

Mallorca brings us together to look at where we are going.

👉 Our Annual Meeting is not just a meeting. It is a space to connect team, vision, and future, with the Mediterranean as the backdrop and sea salt as the essence.

Because everything begins at the origin... and evolves together.

There’s less and less time left... have you signed up yet? 📝
