Did you know when tires end up in a landfill, they can sit there for decades? Most tires take 50–80 years or more to break down. In that time, they take up huge amounts of space, can leach chemicals into soil and water, and become a serious hazard for our planet.

At North West Rubber we recycled more than 18 million tires annually before they become long-term waste. Instead of sitting in landfills, those tires are recycled into high-value consumer and commercial products - helping keep employees safe, athletes secure, and livestock comfortable.

Every tire we recycle means less pressure on landfills and local communities. It also means fewer risks from tire fires, leachate (contaminated runoff), and other hazardous impacts on our environment.

We’re not just making rubber products. We’re helping rewrite the story of what happens when a tire reaches the end of the road.

At North West Rubber, we take our role in the agriculture industry seriously. Every product we develop is specifically engineered for the demands of the agriculture industry, where cattle and livestock environments endure heavy use and constant pressure.

Our high-quality rubber flooring solutions are designed to improve key animal welfare outcomes: reducing lameness, encouraging natural mobility, and minimizing stress. Better animal health leads to better results - for farmers, animals, and the industry as a whole.

At NWR, we believe being part of a community means showing up for it.

We were proud to donate rubber mats to help bring a new Gaga Ball pit to James Cameron School - creating a space where students can get outside, stay active, and have fun together.

James Cameron School helps students with learning differences build the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential. We’re proud to support a school that works every day to turn “I can’t” into “I CAN!”

We’re grateful to the students and staff at James Cameron School for sharing their excitement with us, and we’re proud to play a small part in creating a space that encourages movement, teamwork, confidence, and community.

From grinding down old tires into crumb rubber to mixing and producing the final product, our people are involved in every step of the process.

It takes experience to know the material, precision to get the right recipe and mix, and pride to turn recycled tires into products used globally across many different markets. Every stage matters, and every person at NWR plays a part in the final product that leaves our facility.

We don’t just make rubber mats. We take something that’s been worn out and give it a new purpose.

Through partnerships with universities, agencies, and animal welfare experts, we continue to support research that helps producers improve animal comfort, movement, and overall herd well-being. This work strengthens our understanding of how rubber flooring influences mobility, stress reduction, and overall herd well-being.

When animals are given better conditions underfoot, the impact can be seen in more natural movement, reduced stress, and improved comfort.

Every facility has a story, and our Abbotsford location is where so much of ours began. Since opening its doors in 1996, the Abbotsford plant has played an important role in NWR’s growth - helping transform millions of tires into durable rubber products while contributing to the strength of the communities around us and the protection of our planet. Its impact reaches beyond manufacturing, reflecting a long-standing commitment to responsible production, local involvement, and long-term value.

As NWR continues to grow, we remain proud of the communities that grow alongside us.

At North West Rubber, our USC cutting technology allows us to precision-cut custom logos directly into our products, giving athletic spaces a polished, professional finish without compromising durability or performance.

For athletic directors, facility leaders, and project partners, it is one more way we help create environments that are both functional and identity-driven. As expectations for sport and recreation spaces continue to grow, we remain focused on delivering solutions that combine quality, precision, and long-term value.

Growth is most meaningful when it strengthens both the way we serve our customers and the people who make that possible. In 2019, we opened our Houston, Texas manufacturing plant to bring us closer to customers, support growth in new markets, and expand our manufacturing footprint across North America.

This milestone was made possible by the dedication, skill, and commitment of our employees, whose work continues to drive our progress every day. Building on more than 50 years of recycled rubber manufacturing, the Houston plant reinforced our ability to deliver high-quality products where our customers need them most.

Scrap tires remain one of North America’s growing environmental challenges, with millions discarded each year and too many still ending up in landfills, illegal dumps, or incinerators.

Earth Day is a reminder that solving challenges like this takes action, innovation, and long-term commitment. For more than five decades, NWR has been helping redefine what is possible with recycled rubber by diverting 18 million+ scrap tires annually.

With more than 300 million vehicles on North American roads and only 30% of tires currently recycled into rubber products, the opportunity — and responsibility — to do more has never been clearer.
