Whatever work you’re doing, step 1 of any project is always safety. That starts with knowing where the power lines are, both over your head and under your feet.

Always stay at least 7 metres (that’s 2 moose lengths) away from overhead lines, and 1 metre away from buried ones.

When a homeowner reached out about power issues, our crews got to work. We found the problem in the underground cable which runs from the transformer to the house and it needed to be replaced. So we called up our friends at Badger Daylighting and Crossroads Coring to help us create a new path underground—without digging up any driveways or the road.

By tunnelling safely between existing utilities, we were able to restore power with minimal disruption, helping get full power back to the homeowner. 💪⚡

We recently had the honour of learning Hand Games from Blackfoot Elder Sheldon First Rider with support from Forum Community Relations.

A traditional game that is still played today, Hand Games brings people together through strategy, teamwork, and song.

It was a meaningful opportunity to learn, listen, and connect through a tradition that has been passed down for generations. Thank you to Elder Sheldon First Rider for sharing this knowledge with us.

We look forward to participating in the Hand Games competition at the Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary Family Day & Powwow on June 21.

What goes into keeping the lights on? 💡

Our Communications & Community Impact Summer Student learned first-hand by trying out some of the difficult tasks our crew members do day-to-day to power our communities. It’s one way to appreciate our crew members who’re out there every day to keep our communities connected.

Putting safety first for our kids and community.

We were at the Calgary Police Discovery Centre this weekend with tips for kiddos and families on how to stay safe around electricity. Big ups to the community members who came to say hello and learned a thing or two from our safety hazards demonstration. Thank you for having us Calgary Police Discovery Centre.

Thank you to all the community members who came out to our open houses last week. We appreciated the thoughtful conversations and the time you took to share your questions and feedback on the proposed transmission line routes.

If you didn’t get a chance to connect with us, there’s still time to share your thoughts. Our online survey is open until July 15: https://forms.office.com/r/W2x2XtK1xV.

Power ‘blips’ or short outages are often our systems jumping into action. When there’s an unexpected outage, our system automatically isolates the problematic section and restores power to as many customers as possible while our crew works to fix the problem.

We get it. It’s tempting to hide that electrical equipment behind some bushes or a shed. But, remember: power equipment should have at least 3 metres of clearance. This makes it safer for everyone, including your family and our crews!

So, please take care when placing those flowerbeds, fence posts, and other items near electrical equipment in your yard, and let your neighbours know to do the same.

A sunny day well spent to support children in our community. ❤️

Last week, ENMAX team members volunteered to replace the sand in the sandbox at the Children’s Cottage Society. These sandboxes support sensory play, helping children build resilience through play. This team has supported this annual refresh for the past five years, helping create a welcoming space for the kids.

“For the past five years, ENMAX has generously donated and replaced the sand in our sandbox each year, helping create a safe and welcoming space for the children we serve. What began at our Bridgeland location has continued at our new Child & Family Centre, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support.” — Children's Cottage Society
