Crews recently completed the installation of new power poles along Weaselhead Road on Tsuut'ina Nation. The previous power lines ran between trees that made them challenging to access. By relocating the poles, crews can more easily perform maintenance and respond to outages, helping keep power safely flowing to local homes and businesses.

"I hope people take the time to better understand the injustice of the past and how that continues to affect Indigenous People today," said Dax Head, member of the WOLF Employee Resource Group with ENMAX. "We can all look for ways to be better and kinder."

Today, we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, an important time to reflect, listen and learn.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey. This day serves as a reminder of the role each of us can play in building understanding, strengthening relationships and advancing meaningful reconciliation in our communities.

🔥 How do we reduce the risk of power poles catching fire? It’s all about prevention.

Dirt, dust and road salt can build up on power pole insulators over time. When moisture is present, electricity can track across that buildup, creating heat that may lead to a pole fire.

To help reduce this risk, we've upgraded more than 8,000 power poles with fibreglass crossarms since 2008, and the work continues every year through inspections and targeted infrastructure improvements.

It's one of the many ways we're working behind the scenes to keep Calgary's electricity reliable and our communities safe.

Did you know many of the plants growing in Fish Creek today are invasive species left behind from the area's agricultural past?

That's why organizations like the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society are so important. They bring the community together to help restore and protect this incredible urban park.

Members of our Environment and Sustainability and Indigenous Relations teams recently joined their efforts, planting 100+ native plants and removing a record-breaking 240 kg of invasive species from the Listen Garden.

We're grateful to have played a small part in helping keep Fish Creek healthy and vibrant. Thank you to the Friends of Fish Creek for the opportunity to help out and for the work you do year-round to protect and preserve Fish Creek for future generations.
