When we work on infrastructure that British Columbians rely on every day, it means something to us.

These are the routes we have travelled, the communities we know and the waters we grew up around. So what is the secret to handling a project with that kind of responsibility?

It is not one thing. It is experience, planning, communication and understanding that every decision affects what happens next. Large marine projects come with a lot of moving parts. Crews, equipment, weather, tides, schedules, access and the people who still need that infrastructure to function. The job is not simply to build. It is to anticipate, coordinate and keep the entire project moving.

For us, there is also pride in knowing the work we do becomes part of the coast we call home.

Who knew you could order an entire two-storey office with ocean delivery?

This floating office and dispatch building was built for SAAM Towage in downtown Vancouver, with Pacific Modular constructing the building and Pacific Marine Construction building the floating foundation and handling installation.

Pretty cool, right?

Here's what we love most about projects like this:

They remind us that some of the best ideas don't fit inside the usual four walls. Or even on dry land.

Maybe your dream is a floating home. A remote waterfront retreat where your family can spend summers together. A commercial space on the water. Or finally developing that property you've been imagining for years.

Whatever it is, you don't have to figure out all the moving parts yourself.

Between PacMar Ventures, Pacific Modular, and Pacific Marine Construction, our team can help bring together site preparation, modular construction, floating foundations, and marine installation.

You bring the big idea. We'll help figure out how to make it happen.

What's the waterfront project you've been dreaming about?

What if your dream waterfront home wasn't beside the water, but right on it?

Imagine waking up to the sound of the ocean, stepping outside with your morning coffee, and watching the world go by from your own floating home.

No ordinary backyard. No ordinary views. And definitely no ordinary way of living.

Here's what makes it even more exciting:

With Pacific Marine Construction and Pacific Modular working together, we can help bring your vision to life, from a custom-built floating foundation to the home that sits on top of it.

Whether you're dreaming of a peaceful waterfront retreat, a family getaway, or a full-time home on the water, there's a whole world of possibilities worth exploring.

Your dream home doesn't have to look like everyone else's.

The best part? You don't have to figure out how to make it happen on your own.

A dock is only as good as what it is made of.

From the outside, you see a finished concrete surface. Inside, there is a lot more going on. These floats are built with foam encapsulated by concrete, combining buoyancy with the strength and durability needed for a structure that will spend its life exposed to the marine environment.

Concrete brings another advantage. It creates a solid, substantial walking surface that feels stable underfoot while providing the durability needed for demanding waterfront applications.

A dock has to handle constant movement, changing weather, daily use and years of exposure to the elements. Choosing the right materials from the beginning can mean greater stability, less maintenance and a longer service life. Ask us about our range of versatile options from repurposed to steel and aluminium. We will make sure that our recommendation for you is customized and tailored to your specific needs.

For us, building a dock is not just about what looks good when the project is finished, it's about understanding what's inside it, why it's there, and how every material contributes to the way that dock will perform over time.

From a big idea to a finished dock. There's a whole lot that happens in between, and that's the part we love.

The planning. The engineering. The heavy equipment. The skilled hands putting every piece into place.

A custom dock isn't just about giving you somewhere to park your boat, it's about how you want to USE your waterfront property.

Maybe that's easier boat access, a place to spend summer evenings with family, or a dock built to handle the unique conditions of your shoreline.

Whatever the vision, the right dock starts with understanding the property, the water, and what you need it to do.

At Pacific Marine Construction, we bring the marine construction experience, equipment, and know-how to take your project from concept to completion.

You dream it. We'll help you build it.

Yes, we sank the barge. Yes it was on purpose.

Sometimes marine construction looks completely wrong until you understand what is actually happening.

This barge was intentionally designed to be flooded and lowered into the water so that the float can be moved off and tugged away. Once the float is clear, the water is pumped back out of the barge’s hull, bringing it back to the surface and getting it ready for the next project.

It is a pretty incredible process to watch, but there is also a bigger point here.
Working on the water requires a different kind of problem solving. The equipment, the environment and sometimes even the laws of physics become part of how you get the job done.

The best marina managers are always thinking one season ahead.

The middle of your busiest season is the worst time to discover your docks need work.

A piling that's starting to deteriorate. An anchor connection showing signs of wear. Damage from last winter that's easy to overlook.

These are the kinds of things that can turn into expensive, time-sensitive problems if they're left too long.

The good news? You don't have to wait until something fails to do something about it.

Regular inspections and a solid maintenance plan help you prioritize repairs, plan your budget, and schedule work around your marina's operations.

At Pacific Marine Construction, we help marina managers and dock owners understand what needs attention now, what can wait, and how to prepare for what's coming.

The best time to plan next season's repairs is before next season starts.
Have a marina or dock that needs attention? Let's get ahead of it.

We know how to build on the water.

For more than 35 years, Pacific Marine Construction has been turning waterfront ideas into projects built to last. With 500+ completed projects and a team of local specialists behind us, we have the experience, equipment and people to take on complex projects, including the ones that are difficult to access.

From custom docks and pile driving to marinas, float homes, waterfront resorts and remote developments, what we really build are solutions.

We can take care of the whole picture. From consulting, design and planning through fabrication, construction, installation and maintenance, our team can manage a project from start to finish. That means fewer moving parts, fewer handoffs, and one experienced team thinking ahead at every stage.

And when the project is somewhere others struggle to reach, that is where our capabilities really matter. Our fleet and equipment allow us to mobilize into remote, rugged and environmentally sensitive locations across the coast of North America. From Vancouver Island to Alaska, when the project is hard to reach, we know how to get it done.

We are family-owned, locally grown and proud to build with people who live, work and play on this coast. Whether we are repairing what is already there or building something new, the goal is the same: functional, durable marine infrastructure built with respect for the environment it lives in.

Whether you are responsible for a marina, waterfront property, resort, commercial operation, government project or a remote development, bring us the challenge. We’ll help you figure out what comes next.

This Thanksgiving, we're taking a moment to appreciate the things that matter most.

Our families, our crews, the people we work alongside, and the communities that make what we do possible.

We're especially grateful for the opportunity to live and work on these beautiful lands and waters, and we recognize and express our gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples who have cared for them for generations and continue to do so today.

From our family to yours, wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving filled with good company, good food, and a little well-deserved rest.

Not your average office building. And definitely not your average commute.

This two-storey floating office and dispatch building headed to its new home in downtown Vancouver for SAAM Towage yesterday.

A collaboration between two companies:
ca built the two-storey modular building.

built the floating concrete foundation and handled the installation of the modular sections.

The result? A purpose-built workspace designed to operate right on the water, where SAAM Towage does business.

From the building above to the float below, this is what happens when modular construction meets marine expertise.

And thank-you Darrell Johansen for the 2nd image in this post. Much appreciated!
