UA Local 170 is a multi-craft union whose members are engaged in the fabrication, installation and servicing of piping systems. We are part of approximately 326,000 highly-skilled United Association members who belong to over 300 individual local unions across North America. The United Association is one of the most respected and influential building trades unions in the U.S. It serves as a collec

tive voice for workers through negotiation and collective bargaining with employing contractor groups, such as the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, and the National Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors. The United Association has been training qualified pipe tradesmen longer than anyone else in the industry. The UA boasts the premier training programs available in the industry today, including five-year apprenticeship programs, extensive journeyman training organized instructor training, and certification programs.

***Vancouver Whitecaps Ticket Giveaway***

UA Local 170 members have a chance to win 4 tickets to each of the Whitecaps' home games on Saturday, September 5 and Wednesday, September 9.

We want you to share your favourite footie memory. It could be a picture of your kid playing soccer, or of you playing soccer. It could be a couple of sentences about you attending a match, or something from this summer's FIFA World Cup in Vancouver!

All favourite footie memories will be entered into a draw for the tickets! Send your entries to [email protected] and include your name and union card number.

The games are Saturday, September 5th at 7:30 pm vs St. Louis and Wednesday, September 9th at 7:30 pm vs LA. Please indicate which game you would like to attend.

Deadline for entry is TOMORROW. Friday, September 4th at 1 pm!

UA Local 170 is proud to join 16 other unions in a coalition demanding that the next fleet of BC Ferries be built right here at home.

Including our union, this coalition represents more than 7,000 people who work directly in BC's marine industry.

Building the next ferries at home will not only have significant direct and indirect economic benefits for the province, but it will also ensure that ferries can be more easily repaired in BC.

The UA Piping Industry College of British Columbia was proud to host today's press conference.

The Build Them Here coalition is asking members of the public to join the campaign and send a letter to BC Ferries telling them to build the next fleet of ferries in B.C.

"Donald Trump has brought in sweeping 50% tariffs on billions of dollars worth of Canadian goods. He and his colleagues are waging economic warfare on Canada. They want to weaken our country and our sovereignty.

It’s true, the tariffs will hurt workers and our economy. But make no mistake, Canada will fight through the tariffs, we will stand resolute and we will come out stronger on the other side.

Canadian workers, like the members of UA Local 170, are the best in the world. We will continue our commitment, day in and day out, to build this country. Just like always, Canadians stick together, especially through challenging times.

Stand up for Canada by voting with your wallet: check labels for 'Made in Canada' goods, shop at independent local stores, dine at neighbourhood restaurants and plan your next vacation here at home.
