Last week the VRCA Young Construction Leaders Oktoberfest raised $1,225 for Harvest Project through stein sales alone.
That is a room full of people in our industry who showed up, had a good night, and left having done something for their community. Thank you to Beva Brewing for the keg and to Sailor Hagar’s Brew Pub for hosting and pouring all evening at no charge.
Harvest Project has spent almost 35 years on the North Shore working with people through job loss, illness and family breakdown. One person at a time, getting them back on their feet. They call it extending a hand up, not a hand out.
A&H Steel has been alongside them since 2021, starting with a food and cash drive and growing into annual spring clean out drives. We are proud of how far that partnership has come.

🎨 This past spring, students at Gold Bar Elementary explored the meaning of kindness through art as part of A&H Steel’s Adopt-a-School program.
Our employees voted on their favourite pieces, with three selected to be featured on A&H Steel’s holiday cards sent to clients and staff. 👏 Congratulations to our three young artists! We can’t wait to share your artwork during the holiday season! 🎄✨

👷 Safety comes to life when we can see it in action.

As part of our Safety Month initiative, A&H Steel Vancouver hosted BCCSA’s Safety on Tour presentation and demonstrations at our Maple Ridge office.

Through interactive demonstrations covering fall arrest, head and eye protection, hand safety, and safe lifting, Safety on Tour connects everyday safety practices with the injuries they help prevent.

These shared learning experiences help build a stronger workplace safety culture by encouraging questions, starting conversations about hazards, and reinforcing the importance of looking out for one another. They also give workers and supervisors practical lessons to carry into daily shop and site activities.

For A&H, investing in safety means making time to learn together—and putting those lessons into practice, which complements A&H Steel’s purpose of elevating others.

The lasting value comes from following the event with workplace conversations and actions that apply the lessons to actual shop and site hazards.

Today, we take time to reflect, to learn, and to listen.

At A&H Steel, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned home.

The work we do connects us with people and communities across Western Canada. With those connections comes the importance of understanding our shared history and continuing to learn from the Indigenous Peoples and communities around us.

Today, we wear orange and take time to reflect on the role each of us can play in moving reconciliation forward. 🧡

We were excited to spend the evening at Gold Bar School, handing out pencils during their Meet the Teacher event! ✏️ We kicked off our Adopt-a-School initiative and had a great opportunity to meet some of the students and families in the Gold Bar community. We look forward to continuing to build this partnership and supporting the school throughout the year! 🍎

Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion | 121 Street Bridge Moment Slabs

Not all of the most important work on a bridge is visible once construction is complete.

At the 121 Street Bridge, our crews are installing the reinforcing steel for the moment slabs and barrier walls. Moment slabs are reinforced concrete slabs that anchor the traffic barriers and safely transfer the forces of a vehicle impact into the bridge structure, helping protect both drivers and the bridge itself.

Since beginning work in May, our team has been installing approximately 80 tonnes of stainless steel reinforcing and 160 tonnes of Grade 400W reinforcing steel. This work is helping improve Edmonton’s infrastructure and support more efficient travel throughout the city.

100,000 Hours Without a Lost-Time Incident 👷‍♂️🦺

A major milestone for our A&H Steel team at Woodfibre LNG: 100,000 hours worked without a lost-time incident!

That number represents much more than hours on a timesheet. It represents 100,000 hours of safety-conscious decisions: looking out for one another, following procedures, using the right equipment, reporting hazards and unsafe conditions, communicating with our crews and other trades, and speaking up when something doesn’t look right.

This achievement didn’t happen by luck. It reflects the commitment of our workers and supervisors to following our Safety Management System and working together to keep safety at the forefront every day.

This milestone belongs to everyone who contributed: our workers, supervisors, equipment operators, maintenance and safety personnel, management, and everyone who has taken the time to look out for someone else.

100,000 hours. One team. A shared commitment to safety. 💪👏
