Space Concordia - Rocketry Division ✨ Doing The Impossible Since 2014 ✨
🚀 Liquid Rockets to Outer Space!
👉 bit.ly/SCRD-Application Now the Rocketry Division is aiming even higher.

Space Concordia’s Rocketry Division has been building bigger and better sounding rockets since 2014. Starting with altitudes of 10,000 ft., our team has participated in the Spaceport America Cup, the world’s largest rocketry competition, attended by over 125 international universities. In summer 2018, we launched our first supersonic rocket, Supersonice, with a solid rocket motor, to a target alti

tude of 30,000 ft. This rocket carried a sophisticated fluid dynamics experiment onboard. As Concordia University’s first supersonic vehicle, the rocket reached speeds of over 2400 km/h in just 3 seconds. Our team triumphed: winning 1st place in both the Advanced Category and the Space Dynamics Payload Challenge over universities such as Stanford, MIT, Caltech, and McGill. We aspire to become the first student team to build a liquid propelled rocket that will pass the Karman line (100 km. of altitude) and reach space. Despite the global pandemic, we have been able to build and test the largest rocket in Canada: StarSailor. The rocket's engine was successfully tested in the summer of 2021. The test became a world-record setting event, as it was the largest rocket engine developed and fired by students. Our team plans to launch to space in late 2022 from Canada.

One year ago, our team launched the most powerful student-built rocket in history, delivering an impulse of 889,600 Ns and reaching and reaching a minimum apogee of ~30,000ft.

As we turn the page and pivot toward a new chapter, we’ll never forget what got us here: the late nights, the hands that built this thing from nothing, and every member, donor, sponsor, and investor who believed in us before we’d proven anything.

Here’s to the future!

Preliminary Design Review: complete ✅

Months of trade studies, structural analysis, and late nights cramped into a single design we’re confident to build. Astraeus is moving to detailed design. 🚀

Big strides as we close in on PDR 🚀

The test stand propellant tanks just passed hydrostatic testing at above proof pressure, and the Structures team is now epoxy-sealing the Nosecone Mold to prepare it for fiberglass layup 🪡

Stay tuned!

SCRD is preparing for a new era 🚀

Come join our mission and achieve your “Starman” by David Bowie moment by registering in the link in our bio ⭐️🔗

Side note: “Starman” by David Bowie plays during one of the most pivotal moments in The Martian (2015) around the 1:40:00 mark, when the rocket launches successfully. That feeling of seeing something you worked towards finally lift off? That’s the kind of experience waiting for you at SCRD 🤓

Space Concordia Rocketry Division is proud to announce that CNC has joined us as a manufacturing and technical partner for our turbomachinery development project.

Liquid rocket propulsion demands world-class precision, and Tiberium CNC has answered to that challenge by collaborating with our team on the development and manufacturing of several of our most complex turbomachinery components. Their advanced 5-axis CNC machining and CMM inspection capabilities enable the tight tolerances required for high-performance turbopump systems.

This partnership also highlights the strength of Canada’s advanced manufacturing sector and the critical role that industry and student collaborations play in driving innovation. By working closely with experienced manufacturing partners, our team gains invaluable experience while contributing to meaningful, cutting-edge engineering work.

A sincere thank you to the entire Tiberium CNC team for their technical expertise and support, and a special acknowledgment to Gagnon for his confidence in our team and for helping make this collaboration possible.

If your organization is passionate about supporting and shaping the next generation of aerospace engineers, we would be excited to connect.
