Some standards are easy to see. Others are tucked away in the basement.

In most HLB homes, the electrical panel is placed in the basement where it’s accessible and out of the main living spaces. It costs us more to run the wiring that way, but it gives homeowners a cleaner, more practical setup long-term.

And with a full 200-amp panel standard in every HLB home, there’s more flexibility built in for future upgrades like EV chargers, hot tubs, garage needs, and more.

Not flashy. Just thought through.

Open concept works best when the space still has shape.

In this home, the living area feels open and comfortable, but not empty. The ceiling detail, fireplace, stairs, entry area, and windows all help define the space without closing it off.

That’s the balance we’re always looking for in an HLB home.

A little golf, a good cause, and a few questionable swing choices.

HLB has been glad to sponsor the YFC Golf Tournament over the years, and we’re grateful to continue supporting an event that brings the community together for such a meaningful cause.

Doug and Gerald were happy to represent HLB on the course, although based on the first photo, we may need to review our employee safety policy around golf swings...

Thanks to YFC for another great tournament. Always a good day when we can support something local and have a little fun while we’re at it.

The first slide felt fitting for a post about bathrooms 🤭

We pulled together a few HLB bathrooms from our spec builds over the years, and now we want to know which one you’d pick for your own home. Are you going for bright and timeless, warm and cozy, bold tile, double sinks, or the full ensuite feel?

Tell us your favourite.

Big shoutout to .
We’ve worked with them for a couple of years, and their work always adds something special.

The beams and pillars are a huge upgrade to the look of a home, but they’re not just decorative. They’re structural too.

Beautiful and functional craftsmanship. That’s the kind of detail we love.

The layout feels open and comfortable. The spaces connect without feeling overly matched. The finishes add contrast and warmth, but the overall feeling is still calm and livable.

That’s always the goal with an HLB home: a space that feels cohesive, comfortable, and thought through.

Cabinet door spacing, alignment, and margins might not be the first thing you notice, but when they’re off, you’ll see it.

Before possession, we’re checking that everything sits the way it should. And down the road, if those margins move a bit with normal use, the hinges can be adjusted to bring them back into place.

Small detail. Big part of the final fit and finish.

When we’re looking at finishes, we don’t just think about one room at a time.

This custom build is a good example of that. Soft neutrals, warm wood tones, two-tone cabinetry, brass hardware, and clean tile choices carry through in a way that feels calm and consistent without feeling copied and pasted.

It’s not about matching every detail perfectly. It’s about making sure the home feels like it was thought through as a whole.

A closer look at one of our Oak Terrace builds in Lorette.

The first view gives you the details: trusses, rooflines, garage framing, and the covered deck at the entry of the home. The next view pulls back and shows where this build sits within Lorette’s newest development.
The craftsmanship up close, and the neighbourhood taking shape around it.

A few stages of progress from our build in Oak Terrace, Lorette's newest development.
The view from above makes it easy to see how much can change between the early floor system and the roof structure going up.

More to come from this one!
