FIRST Team 1305

FIRST Team 1305 We are FIRST Team 1305, a student robotics team open to all High School aged students in North Bay and Area. In 2012 we enter our twelfth competition season.

We are the Near North Student Robotics Initiative, a robotics team representing the city of North Bay, Ontario and surrounding area. We compete with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a robotics competition dedicated to promoting science and technology to youth. FIRST game challenges change yearly and do not work on principles of battling and defeating your opponent

s, but rather Gracious Professionalism. Gracious Professionalism is competing like crazy but helping out other teams as they may be your teammate in another match. Each year we build a robot to compete in the First Robotics Competition, the largest competition in the FIRST family. We also compete in the VEX robotics competition as a way to train new members, and build 4 robots for this competition in the fall. We look forward to mentoring team 4069 from LoEllen SS in Sudbury, as well as team 4152 from Huntsville Ontario this year, as well as continuing to work with 2011 rookie Team 3739 from London Ontario who we mentored last year. We also mentor FLL teams, and are proud to be associated with three area teams, The Iceolators, Team Ice Breakers and Icetastic, providing mentoring and registration cost assistance. Our team also participates in numerous outreach events throughout the year, promoting science and technology in our community. Team Facts

The City of North Bay proudly proclaims May 13 as FIRST Team 1305 Day. Today at 4 p.m., the celebration continued with a flag raising in Leger Square in honour of FIRST Team 1305 and the Near North Student Robotics Initiative.

Through FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), Team 1305 helps expand access to robotics, innovation, and STEAM education across Northeastern Ontario.

Thank you Backroads Bill Steer for the talk and tour of the Canadian Ecology Centre. The Centre opens again on May 8 after almost a year since the storm on June 21. It was sad to see the devastating impact of the storm, yet inspiring to see how folks and nature are working to bring the forest slowly to a new life. FIRST Team 1305 was honoured to present the Ecology Centre with a donation from our Lunch and Learn Outreach Fund this evening.

Meet Raj. A grade 13 student from Team 1305
Raj was the captains pick for our V.I.C (very important cube) this weekend. The Captains chose Raj because Not only did Raj manage our teammof scouts and their scout schedules, but he did it with the other teams we work to scout with.
He put in a lot of hard work and dedication and that os why he was the Captains V.I.C award.
