THE 2026 NOBEL PRIZES ARE IN! BUT WHAT’S ALL THE HYPE ABOUT? 🏅

What do algae, Antarctic ice, and mirror-image molecules have in common? More than you might think! From controlling neurons with light to detecting particles travelling across the universe, this year’s Nobel Prize-winning discoveries remind us just how far scientific curiosity can take us.

🧠 Physiology or Medicine: How light-sensitive proteins revolutionized the way we study the brain.

🌌 Physics: How Antarctic ice became a window into some of the universe’s greatest mysteries.

🧪 Chemistry: Why the shape of a molecule can make all the difference in medicine.

Beyond the awards, these breakthroughs highlight something even bigger: the power of fundamental research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and asking questions that have never been answered before.

At CYM, we’re celebrating not just the discoveries themselves, but the curiosity and persistence that made them possible.

💭 If you could join one of these Nobel-winning research teams, which would you choose?

LES PRIX NOBEL 2026 SONT DÉVOILÉS ! MAIS POURQUOI TOUT CET ENGOUEMENT ? 🏅

🧬 RESEARCH SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK:

Cellular Senescence — What Happens When Damaged Cells Refuse to Die?

What if damaged cells stopped dividing but continued influencing the tissues around them?

This week’s explores cellular senescence, a protective stress response that prevents damaged cells from multiplying while allowing them to remain biologically active.

When senescent cells persist, their secretions—known collectively as the SASP—may contribute to chronic inflammation and tissue dysfunction. Recent studies are investigating whether these cells can be selectively targeted. While engineered CAR T cells have shown promising results in mice, human clinical evidence remains limited.

The challenge? Distinguishing protective senescence from harmful persistence.

Swipe to discover why cells that stop dividing may still influence our health! ➡️

Ever wonder what chronic stress actually does to your brain? 🧠🔬😰

This Scientific Sunday, we explored the science of chronic stress, how the HPA axis floods the brain with cortisol, shrinking the hippocampus, weakening the prefrontal cortex, and overactivating the amygdala.

The horrible part?

It’s hitting students hard: a 2022 Canadian Wellbeing Study found that 62% of university students aged 18-21 feel stressed by studying/schoolwork every single day. ✨💜

The good news? Your brain can recover—but it needs more than willpower. It needs rest, sleep, exercise, and support.

Research doesn’t just tell us what stress does. It reminds us that recovery is possible—and that asking for help is part of the science. 🎉💖🧪
